walking as a workout?

i read on some website that walking a certain amount of steps per day withouth really changing your diet, maybe just less junk foods and desserts, but not like a total no carbs thing or whatever, can actually cause you to lose weight....is this in anyway possible? beacause walking is easy, and it seemed a bit too good to be true to just walk and lose weight. thanks!!!

You need to get your heartrate up in order for walking/etc. to do your body any good.
In order to shed fat, you need to be burning more calories than you are taking in. Eat less + move more=fat loss! Not that complicated actually.
Walking can be good if you push yourself a little...brisk walking is great!

A proper diet and proper exercise goes hand in hand...cannot do one without the other and expect good results. :)

Weight loss occurs when you burn more calories than you consume. So, if you ate exactly the same but started walking daily you would slowly lose weight. Slowly that is, because going for a walk each day doesn't total up to a whole lot of calories, but it does make a difference.
You also mentioned eating less junk food. Cutting out some treats and replacing them with healthy, low calorie foods will make an additional difference. Look at the calorie totals in some of the junk foods you eat. They are very calorie dense. Now, combine eating less junk and walking and you should see a difference in weight loss. Still not as much weight loss as if you had a regular exercise regime of varying intensity cardio, strength training, a balanced and healthy dieting, proper water consumption.
