100lb

Last year I got a bacterial skin infection, that took several courses of drugs to cure. One shock. Afterwards my GP ordered some tests (in case I was diabetic, due to getting infections easily). I wasn't but it made me think, I really needed to shift some weight. Unfit, fat, n forty.
Six months on, I'm deciding to.
I used to gym, never really been slim, but after stopping two years ago, weights gone on a lot more, and I'm unfit due to sedentary lifestyle. In this last month I've lost 6lb due to cutting down on carbs (1 cup of oatmeal for breakfast and no more than 2 slices of bread (granary or wholemeal) a day) which is a start.
Going to join a gym (there's a local budget one that opened last November, that seems to fit the bill - it was cost that stopped me before, after going for over 5 years 2-3 times a week), and thought maybe forums are a good idea too, after all I'm a member of many forums for other areas in my life, so why not fitness/weightloss.
I found this place, read quite a bit then joined. The user name is because some posters have said they'd like to lose 100lb, and I thought that would be good for me too. I think I'm about 130lb above the "ideal" spouted about for my height, but if I can lose 100lb, or some where up to, then I'm sure it would be viable to maintain in the long term.
