waiting on pounds to fall

I know I've only been on this diet a week and a half but last time i did this diet I had already lost 2 pds.
How long has it taken you guys to lose your first pounds. Im getting distracted I keep weighting myself. I hate the scale!

Too many variables....

I mean really, it took me 30 years to start actually losing weight....

It depends a lot on the exercise you are doing and how you are eating. When I first got serious about this whole game in January this year, I worked hard and tried to eat (what I thought) was properly, but I didn't see immediate weight loss. A little disheartening, but not uncommon. The human body is a fickle beast and it will lose weight on the scales when and where it wants to. There is no set formula to say "If you havent lost X pounds by the end of 7 days something is wrong" Thats just simply not realistic. Different things work for different people. Give it some time or shake up your program a bit and try something new. Might just be the kickstart you need.

Otherwise, what also might be helpfull is if you list what you are doing to lose weight. Calorie intake, diet, exercise, etc. That way people here will be able to give you some more informed and likely helpful advice.

I hope that helps.

Well I weighed myself 2 weeks ago, and I was 124.5 lbs. The weekend after that, I ate like half a blackberry cobbler one day (homemade) and half a pie the next (munchies...), but I didn't have much else those days so I don't think it was terribly significant. Since then, I haven't weighed myself until today... 124.5 lbs, but my jeans are fitting better. So I think that's progress at least, but I haven't seen any pounds shed. My target weight is ~120 lbs (as low as 115), though, so I'm almost there.

Im doing tae bo 45min. a day(thinking about walking 1 mile a day too)(30 min)

Im on a 1,400 cal diet I just moved up today was doing 1,200

breakfast
2eggs
1 toast

lunch
salad

snack
fruit(all)

dinner
pork/chicken (3oz.)
salad
vegtable

Im 4'9 23yrs. old and 145
my first goal weight is 135

That doesnt look bad at all....

Really from the sounds of it you are doing ok. I might try to add some protein to the salad at lunch but otherwise it looks ok to me. I think though 2 things should be considered:

1: you are not hugely overweight at this point and the general concensus seems to be that as you get closer to you goals the weight loss is definitely less dramatic and takes more work and more time than it does for people with 100 pounds to lose. Patience is the key, don't lose faith.

2: Scales are crap. I know, I know, I look at my damn scale everyday too and I am a big hypocrite, but it really is true. Scales can be so unpredictable and often times cruel. A better indication should always be measurements, how your clothes fit and how you are feeling. Even the mirror can be decpetive, since even though I am down over 50 pounds now, I think I look exactly the same as when I was at my biggest. But my clothes and belt tell a completely different story...

So there you go. I think you are definitely on the right track. You could be retaining some water due to sodium, a physical situation, or you could simply just be stalled a bit at the beginning, as happens to so many. I would keep up with what you are doing myself (whatching the little things like salad dressing, table salt, butter(or peanut butter) on toast, etc), they all add up and make a BIG difference.

I know. Thats why I haven't ate any salt, but have had 2 tbs. dressing and 1tsp butter when I really need them.
I think my prob. is water I can only get down 3 bottled waters at the most down a day, but I don't drink anything but that all day. Im thinking about buying them little packs from crystal light or whatever to give my water flavor I know water is one of the main thinks my body needs.
