how id waist size determined? i see some people weighing more than me with 32, 34 waists.

I am 5 9 181 and have a 38 waist down from 44 when i was 228.

How is it determined?

waist size is generally determined my putting a tape measure around your waist and looking to see where it ends.. most people tend ot measure the smallest part of their waist - generally around the belly button area...

Genetics tend to define where people carry their weight - you might carry most of it in your stomach... since spot reducing isn't possible.. just keep going in the direction you're going and it will eventually come off

Doesn't that suck! Who came up with these rules anyway? :p
If'n we didn't have these rules -then there'd probably be a bunch of barbie doll esque type clones tiptoeing around on pointy shoes... :) vive la difference in people.. gotta make the best out of what you've got :D

I'm an apple, I carry all my weight in my tummy. I'm 6 feet and when I weighed 200 lbs my waist was a 38. Now that I'm 163, my waist is around a 34. I will never have (nor ever had) a small waist. They talk about the hip/waist ratio and how it should be 8 inches (for women) between the two to be the healthiest, I never will hit that ratio because my genetics don't allow it.

If I were you I would just work on reducing the fat throughout your entire body and let your waist fall to where it should be naturally.
