Waist Size Wtf?

Hi. I have a quick question. I just messured my waist from my belly button around and it says that i am a 35" waist but thats impossible. If i'm 35 inches thien how come i'm wearing jeens that are 34inch and they are falling off of me. I can wear theim but its almost to the point where i need a belt they ride my hips. I have another pair thats 36" and i do need a belt with thiem to keep thiem up. Obviously the tape measure isn't lieing but thats impossible if my jeens are falling off of me thien i dont understand this one bit...I just low ride my jeens usually that are anywhere from 34-36 because i like looser fit and i ride theim on my hips half the time i wear a belt. The Mavi jeens that are a 36" waist size have never been washed because i just bought thiem a few days ago so obviously its not from theim stretching or shrinking or nothing and the tape meassure doesn't lie so i dont understand. I calculated my body fat on this one website and u need ur waist size. When i typed in 35" it said i'd be around 17% body fat yet when i put in 32" it said im 9%. i KNOW im not 9% so i cant be a 32" i guess but i really doubt im 17% body fat and im sure i cant be a 35" waist if i can wear jeens that are 34 and there practically falling off of me with no belt and a 36" waist jeen i need a belt .. this makes no sense!!!
PLZZ RESPOND VERY CONFUSED o.0!!!!!

what i think is happening is that you are measuring near or above the belly button but you wear your pants lower than that point. your belly is like this ( [it curves] so your pants are on the lower, thinner part while you measure on the "fattest" part.

Where would you say I should be measureing for waist size ? I'm not sure because even when i pull the pants up to my belly button i have like a few inches of extra room theres no WAY they'd stay up there. gahhh im so confused

try stretching your pants out like they were on an invisible you and measure the inside, see if they really are that size, also remember that with age pants stretch, while the measurements were made at "birth"

You shouldn't be worried about stuff like that. You should just care about finding the perfect pair of pants that fits you. Also, the body fat thing probably isn't very accurate.

I used to have a pair of shorts that said 32'' but felt like half that...I think different ones run a little higher/lower than they are marked.

hey guys. Aquantis is right, i have the same probelm and i am really confused too. I also measured my waist with a tape measure and it said 32.But how can it be. I am wearing size 30 right now and its falling off. I measured it by the belly button. I just cant see why the tape measure would say 32. I wore a dress pant and it fitted a little tight on me but definatly not as tight as 32. I am really confused here as Aquantis is :S:S:S.

well, why does it matter? As long as you buy the pair of jeans that fit, then everything is ok. I don't see why people worry about stuff like that.
