Vertical Rowing w/ straps - Hands sliding?

I have a simple question: I have recently started using lifting straps when doing my vertical rowing sets. I have noticed that my hands slide slightly (just centimeter or two) towards the end of the long bar on the way down. Is this acceptable? It seems to make the motion easier - and easier is not always a good thing! ;)

Thanks!

If your problem is slipping I would say don't use them. Get some lifting chalk for $4 and press on. When people use straps they tend to lessen their grip a bit because the straps can take the weight easily. This places some pulling force on your wrist that is amplified by the fact that your forearm muscles are not in full flex. This can lead to damage. Best to use chalk and keep your grip as tight as possible. Secondly, through properties of irradiation in the muscle, you actually become stronger the more muscle groups you recruit. It's also very hard to damage an area in which supporting muscles are flexed to full extent.
Get some chalk. If your form still suffers you are doing something wrong. Lower the weight and do slower reps. Don't let gravity do the other half of your workout for you.

Great info, thanks, johnny!

I perform the rowing (like everything) in the best possible form and slowly. The slowness is what allowed me to notice the slight slipping. Incidenally, I had noticed the slippage on the first rep through to the final burning 7th or so...

Thanks again.
