Hi, all, I'm an Indian. I was born in this country, but I am originally from india and my religion stipulates that we don't eat meat and I don't mind it all. I also don't want to turn this into a debate. I'm just curious I don't want to really bulk up just lose some weight, what sort of food do you suggest I eat. I do eat dairy, but no fish. I'm just looking for what type of cereal is low in calories and stuff, what kind of snack bars to buy etc...

I am a vegetarian as well, I am not Indian, but I do eat Indian food because legumes like lentils and garbanzo's with paneer (that white soft cheese, did I spell that right?) end up to be high protein meals, if you can get the stuff fresh and don't buy the packages which will 'carb' you to death. Also, I make veggie stir frys with egg-beaters (cook the eggs then add the veggies) add some tofu and you are full of protein! I don't go for cereals and bars that much because I noticed after using fitday.com that I wasn't losing weight because I (like many vegs) was getting way too much carbs and fat and not enough protein without even realizing it.... I actually lost a pound a week just by changing what i ate wheeeee!

brown rice, whole grain breads (make sure they have NO enriched white flour, high fructose corn syrup...), legumes, plain oat meal, any fresh raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, milk, yogurt, cottage chesse, eggs...
