Does vegetable protein really contain as much protein as it says it does? I was in a bulk store and I saw a container labelled Vegetable Protein. I had never heard of it before, but my girlfriend said it is for vegetarians whom do not get enough protein in their regular diet. The sign for it said there was 53g of protein in a 100g serving with 100g costing 36 cents.
Is this actually true, does vegetable protein actually contain 53g of protein in a 100g serving or was the sign very misleading? Also, are there any downsides to adding it to my diet (Note I'm currently bulking, but I also don't want any questions answered than what I'm asking).
I'm not entirely sure if all areas call it Vegetable Protein, so I'll describe it as light brown flakes.
