Using builder trestles as squat stands

I was just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on using steel builders trestle as squat stands. Most squat stands I have looked at are rated for 150-160kg and I know of course it is taking into account that they might be put down less than gently but for £50 I can get a pair of steel trestles that are adjustable in height to 5ft 9in and are rated for 450kg. This is cheaper than the £70 I have seen for the cheapest squat stands and should last me longer.

Alternatively, would squat stands rated at 160kg actually take more than that?

That is a genius idea. I've been looking at squat racks lately but I have 2 main problems with them: 1) They're a bit expensive for something that isn't very complex and 2) I'd prefer something that I can slide against the garage wall when not in use and park my car in the garage.

Although, I don't know a thing about builders trestles. Hopefully, someone else knows enough to say whether this is a good idea or not.

I would to inform anyone that's interested - apparently not many are - that it does work. Got me builders trestles today and they are not only great as squat stands but they're great for dips and pull ups too. I think I've got a bargain.
