Upper Chest

Hi all,

I mentioned in my blog.

Wonder any better workout for my upper chest. It has been the least developed area since I started working out.

Hope to hear some of the experience from you.

Thanks a lot!

hmm..have you tried dips?? that always seems to work for me, military press works that upper area pretty good, and in my experience, I've always thought the barbell incline works better..and for size, I used to do pushups at an incline....those are my suggestions lol

Mun- You should definitely develop your shoulders well too it helps a ton with any incline exercise, maybe do military and incline on the same day. I think you should try with light weight doing incline barbell presses at 30 degrees and once you become more comfortable with that slowly increase the angle to 45 occasionally, although don't stick to 45 because like you mentioned in the blog it starts to become more of a shoulder thing than upper chest, 30 is best for upper chest. Personally, I feel it a little different between dumbell incline presses and barbell presses, it could be beneficial to alternate between barbells and dumbells either between months or between weeks. But keep in mind that doing presses with dumbells uses a lot more stabilizer muscles, just like on a flat or decline bench. Lastly, I personally don't do flys much, but you can put an incline bench between cables (make sure the cables aren't at the top) and do some that way. Hope that helps.

Military on the same day as an incline? That's a little overkill on the anterior delts, isn't it?

I like to do that if im doing incline at 45 degress or higher, but if im doing incline at 30, which i usually do with upper chest on chest days, then no i wouldnt do military on the same day - unless it's a push/pull split and you're getting all of the pushing out exercises out in one day

Hi all,

Thanks for the advise. And yes, whether it is by chance or not, my shoulders are well developed.

Yeah, I do military press for my shoulders.

Recently (three months ago), I am trying with incline barbell and dumbell press. Hopefully, my upper chest will be well developed soon... :(

Hm. Well, you are already working the anterior delts so well with a bench press or incline press that you should probably avoid doing yet-another front delt exercise. If you're trying to develop well-rounded shoulders, expend your efforts on something like lateral raise.
