Upper body only workout myth?

Ive recently began a new workout regime that will hopefully yield results in particular areas of my body, the upper body. Ive been doing curls, pushups, various weighted movements to excersize my forearms triceps and biceps, in 3sets of 20 reps.

Is it possible to yield results by only working on the areas i want to focus on.

I think it would be possible but you'd get better results if you trained your whole body.

Btw is your goal size, strength or endurance? Because 20 reps is too many for size or strength.

Well, full body lifts will put mass on your entire body, deadlifts for example. Can you get to a gym? Isolation stuff really isent your best bet. Bench, rows, pullups, military press for upper body. Deadlifts and squats for lower, will make you grow overall.

The problem is that the muscles you're concentrating on are relatively small so the results aren't going to be great. Muscles like Biceps and triceps don't need so much direct work, they get used in some way in all lifts and pulls and adding things like curls is not necessary.
By sticking to your compound lifts (squats, deadlift, bench etc) you'll give your whole body a workout and stimulate a hormone release that'll aid muscle growth.
