Unusual question...

I'm thinking of gettin a tattoo of japanese symbols running down the length of my forearm (inside), but was wondering...if i build my forearms too much, will it go out of shape or stretch? any of you guys got tat's in places that have grown due to lifting? any comments greatly appreciated...:D

Kanji characters are so cliche'.

Yes, tattoo ink goes IN your skin, so as your skin goes, so goes the tattoo. They are subject to UV radiation, stretching, shrinking, and scarring. My last trainer had a US Marine Corp tattoo, and when he grew, the tattoo grew as well. He had it on his shoulder though, and that skin stretches around an orb (the shoulder muscles) so it grew proportionally. I imagine you'd run into much of the same situation iwth your forearm, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

How many people are going to actually be able to read it anyway :)

I can read it. Kanji characters are actually Chinese... Hirigana and katakana are Japanese "characters." Kanji is used in Japanese, but comes from China.

Nihongo o benkiyo shimasu.

BTW - You might wanna post the graphic before getting it done... To verify that it doesn't say, "I am stupid" or something like that.

Funny you mention that Rip. There was an asian tattoo artist who would tattoo stuff like "slut" and "whore" on women who thought the kanji said stuff liek "goddess" or "Princess".
They sent him to prison for willful mutilation.

Of course, he did the same thing to his fellow inmates, and now is serving the rest of his sentence in solitary confinement for his own protection.

A little off topic...but I'm a bit of a tattoo'd freak
