hi.

the best way for me to lose wieght is to count calories and fat. to lose weoght i havce to go really low though : 25g fat and 900 cals max. my body seans to store everything i east over this limit. so heres the prob. i am ta school, and get free dinners. if i had food from home i could work out the fat etc, but my mum wont let me use r food wen i can get it for free at school. the food at school doesnt have the nutritional info on it. it is also weird writting down everything u r eating, when u r in a canteen full of people. i go for the lowest fat stuff poss but all the sandwiches hav marg / mayo in, if u look in the becon rolls they r literalyy HALF fat, i colud just have fruit, but the fruit at school is scanky, and cant have hot dinner coz my mum does main meal in the evening, so says we have to have something cold at school, and generally that is all high fat stuff too. so how do i ballance it so that i can eat food at school and still lose weight? i lose a lot more in the hols, coz i can eat more low fat stuff, but when im at school i dont put any on, but have stopped loosing. IT IS SO ANNOYING!

what is your exercise routine? Are you drinking alot of water? And yes you will stop loosing even if your calories are low. It happened to me and I simply upped the calories a bit and the weight started coming off again, I agree with MGB about you need to eat more calories (I recently was doing similar to you in calories and my loss stopped too). Also just curious, why can't you eat 2 hot meats a day? If the school food is that bad maybe you should have a talk with your mom and explain that the food is unhealthy and that you would like to bring food from home for lunch so you know what is in the food you are eating.

at the mo i am at the lowest weight i have been in years, but i still need to lose a lot more! i've tried eatinga normal amount just healthier, but that doesnt seen to have any effect. about a year ago i went on a weird diet for arounfthree months anhd lost a stone, but i washungry ALL THE TIME! i had cerials for breakfast, salad for lunch, and cerials again for tea. prob not the best diet ever coz lacks things such as protein ect.

i'm just so fed up of not losing weight that i go to extreams to lose it i think! AAAAAh, it's so anoyin!
 
Dear, your desperation is working against you. Calm down and take a step back for a moment :). Take a nice deep breath..aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh.

Recognize that if you're regularly eating 900 calories per day and still not losing anything, obviously you have taken your body into "starvation mode" as some like to call it. Clearly you are in a calorie deficit as the body usually needs at least 1200 calories per day, and usually several hundred calories more, just to perform its daily functions and activities. This is called the RMR, and mine is about 1900-2000 calories per day.

Since you're eating so far below any normal RMR, its evident that you're body is holding on to every bite of food eaten because it believes you're in the middle of the forest, and its winter, and you're stuck in a cave with no food around. I believe your body is sort of hibernating until food comes along, and when it finally does, it plans to pack on the pounds immediately to prepare for the next famine.

Stop trying to lose weight for the moment and start worrying about resuming and repairing your metabolism. You do this by immediately eating at least 1200 calories per day, and then each week going up maybe 100 calories more per day until you're eating at least at 1700 calories per day for a while. [Note I'm not advising on any specific numbers because I dont know you're stats and I'm not really an expert like that.] I would be exercising regularly and eating frequent meals, plus increasing the calories, in the hopes that it will speed up my metabolism. Once the metabolism is back to normal (could be a few months), then you try again to take off the weight healthily by eating sufficiently but still at a calorie deficit, and exercising regularly.

A turkey and cheese sandwich with a bit of mayo or margarine is not going to kill you. What are the fillings in the sandwiches?

Weight loss is not about what you eat. Rather, how much you eat.
Just eating healthier while still eating numerically the same, or close to, calories every day will not lead to weight loss. As it all comes down to - Calories in calories out...

It doesn't sound like you have ever been on a "proper Diet" in the first place.
