Ultimate Weight Lifting Question Thread

There are so many problems and confusions ive encountered with my experiences in weight lifting. I am gunna list some of the questions i have that I hope some of you can answer. Some questions may be odd but i want to know

1a. For Rectus Abdominus, is an Ab Pull-down machine better then Dumbbell Sit-Ups?

1b. If Dumbbell Sit-Ups, what do you do when the dumbbell you need to effeciently work out with is too heavy and you can't get it onto your chest?

2.Are Russian Twists superior over Dumbbell Side bends?

3.The convential deadlift (as I know it, squat position and hands wider then legs) hits what muscles?
4.Does SLDL actually work your Hamstrings?

5.Which is better, Dumbbell Curls or Barbell Curls?

6. For Bench Press, what is the point of doing 3 sets of 12? 10? 8? 6? Heavy Singles?

7.Should Incline Bench be performed the same day as your bench press?

8. Do dumbbell side raises hit your traps as well as deltoids?

9. What is the most effective way to build your lats without a pull-up/chin-up bar?

10.Should there be a pause on the box while Box Squatting?

11. Are calve raises on a machine any different from calve raises with a barbell? If so, which is better?

12.After a day of football or soccer, sometimes you should feel bruised up and your muscle is sore the next day, but not from straining. Is it ok to lift with that muscle that day, or the day after you've been hit?

13.Do Box Squats actually hit your back as well as glutes and quads?

14. Is it ok to bench press with a sore back, including posterior deltoids, traps, lats, and or erector spinae. How about sore biceps?

15. Does putting clips on a barbell actually increase your hand strength?

16. Whats the point of doing decline bench press? What does it target more then flat bench?

17. Should Dumbbell Bench Pressing be done on the same day as flat bench press, or on a different day. If on a different day, should it be substituted for flat bench press?

18. Is it ok to do a Lat Pull-down with a sore chest (I feel pec strain when sore and doing lat pull-down)

19. What is the point of doing dumbbell farmer walks? Does it actually strengthen your traps, or just give them endurance?

20. If you play a sport daily, is it ok to lift after or none at all? If so, how much rest should you get between workouts?

21. How much protein can be consumed hourly by a healthy, young, male?

1b. If Dumbbell Sit-Ups, what do you do when the dumbbell you need to effeciently work out with is too heavy and you can't get it onto your chest?

2.Are Russian Twists superior over Dumbbell Side bends? There is no 'better' it's whatever works for you

3.The convential deadlift (as I know it, squat position and hands wider then legs) hits what muscles?Hammies, glutes, quads, back, and im sure an entire spectrum of other stabalizers
4.Does SLDL actually work your Hamstrings?Yes

5.Which is better, Dumbbell Curls or Barbell Curls? There's that better word again

6. For Bench Press, what is the point of doing 3 sets of 12? 10? 8? 6? Heavy Singles? Google, rep set bible, read.

7.Should Incline Bench be performed the same day as your bench press? Depends on your routine, frequency, volume, etc

8. Do dumbbell side raises hit your traps as well as deltoids?That's correct Johnny

9. What is the most effective way to build your lats without a pull-up/chin-up bar? t rows, rows.

10.Should there be a pause on the box while Box Squatting? depends the TUT you're trying to do

11. Are calve raises on a machine any different from calve raises with a barbell? If so, which is better? Better... oh man. There's 2 sections to a calf inner and outer (to avoid big names) and you hit those by doing seated and standing raises, although they don't always need to be isolated

Is it ok to lift with that muscle that day, or the day after you've been hit? If you want. If you remember taking a hit there and you know it's just a bruise then sure. But if you don't remember, it has probably already been worked.

13.Do Box Squats actually hit your back as well as glutes and quads? All squats hit your back pretty good, even with perfect form.

14. Is it ok to bench press with a sore back, including posterior deltoids, traps, lats, and or erector spinae. How about sore biceps? I feel I use my lats and traps in bench, so for me no. If you feel fine and you're growing while doing that then hell, do it.

15. Does putting clips on a barbell actually increase your hand strength?I hope this is a joke

17. Should Dumbbell Bench Pressing be done on the same day as flat bench press, or on a different day. If on a different day, should it be substituted for flat bench press?Depends, routine, volume, frequency blah blah

18. Is it ok to do a Lat Pull-down with a sore chest (I feel pec strain when sore and doing lat pull-down) I'd say yes. I'm sure the strain is just you tensing them unneedidly, haha new word

19. What is the point of doing dumbbell farmer walks? Does it actually strengthen your traps, or just give them endurance? Both, along with making them bigger

20. If you play a sport daily, is it ok to lift after or none at all? If so, how much rest should you get between workouts? It depends on intensity, muscles worked, muscles plan on being worked
