Hi there,
First of all, a six pack would be nice but for me, unlikely.
Ive been overweight for most of my life since I was 13 or so. Around the age of 21 whilst travelling I became what you might call "trim" but by 23 I was going back to my usual shape. I have never managed to stick to any diet as I seem to love food so much. Im afraid that I comfort ate foods like sweets and potato chips and love fish n chips from the fish n chip shop.
For a few years my weight hovered around 99 kilos. I just had a few weeks off study and worked hard in the garden, went to the shops less, ate more healthily and without realising dropped the coke and sweets. I also had a habit of a couple of drinks per night on average.
Well, a few kilos just dropped off, without considering the alcohol. I used our crosstrainer that had been gathering dust in the garage and semi enjoyed it.
I wondered what I could accomplish if I:
1 Stop drinking fizzy sugary drinks
2 Think about what it is I put in my body
3 Exercise
So about 10 weeks later ive lost 10 kilos.
Im eating a small bowl of muesli and an apple for breakfast. A carrot, some lettuce, spinach, red pepper and red onion for lunch.... sometimes with a piece of fish. The same again for evening meal.
Its working, I enjoy the taste of the food but im thinking I should probably vary the diet a bit. I am a bit of a fussy eater and don't eat meat, fish only. So fish meat! Just to clear up any veggie/meat antagonists. I kill fish.
I try to use the crosstrainer for 30 mins a day.
I know nothing about diet or nutrition currently. I have a little salt, olive oil and just a little butter when I fry the fish.
I feel good about these foods and will also begin to substitute fish for eggs every now and then, omelette no oil.
Having been overweight for most of my life, 41yrs, avoiding thinking about what I put in my body and not exercising enough I have decided it is time for a change. I want to feel good about my body, get into shape and if I can accomplish that, begin to add some muscle.
Ive spent around 10 years at 98 kilos or so. I wonder what my ideal weight would be for my height and muscle size, Im 5'10".
Mum always said I had heavy bones.
Recently I made a change in my diet and more or less overnight stopped eating sugar, I was happy to eat it because I felt my body wanted it. Feeling tired? Have a can of coke. In the evening, hmmm im hungry..... ooh yes a few pieces of chocolate. I love to make cakes, brownies choc chip cookies you name it.
So I am eating a small bowl of dry fruity muesli with a chopped apple for breakfast.
A carrot and lettuce/spinach with red onion, red pepper and sometimes a piece of fish, lightly fried in a very little olive oil and butter.
Same, salad and fish for dinner. Sometimes two eggs, no oil instead of fish. A few hazelnuts if I really have to snack.
Im thinking about trying to not eat processed foods, also as a student, the diet I choose should be inexpensive, the fish is a little expensive. Don't want to eat other animals.
I would be keen to hear from anyone who has opinions on the diet, it does not seem very varied.
Also any 40yr old males who successfully lost their tummy fat and kept it off!
My motivation is currently high, I hope to fill this diary with positive energy and results
Regards
