Well hello everyone Im new here and new to losing weight.
Im 33 yrs old will be 34 in January Im 6'2" and weigh 315#
I have decided to make a commitment to a new healthy lifestyle
Not just losing weight but a complete lifestyle makeover...my entire life!!
I have something to be proud of and build off so here goes I QUIT SMOKING!
Today is 9mos since my last cigarette
Recently I moved my family back to Ohio from Florida and we moved in with my mother for the purpose of me going back to school and giving up what I feel is the most unhealthy profession there is not only physically but menally and it takes a real toll on the family. I was a car salesman for 15yrs. So i quit my job and my wife got one so I can focus on school. After starting school and an exercise program I feel great about the direction I am going. Now my Wife and I have decided me Joining the Army is the direction we want to go.
Now that I have made that decision I have some real weight to lose and %BMI to tackle. NOW I HAVE NY FIRST REAL LIFE GOAL and it feels so so great!
I just know that a short time from now my life and the lives of my wife and 3 girls is gonna be so much better

Thanks all for reading time to go for a short run
Ken

Congrats on the 9 mo anniversary! :)

Where in Ohio are you? I'm in Columbus...Go bucks! Hope you're not a gator fan!

Forgive my ignorance, but why do you need to go to school to join the Army?

And congratulations on your newfound motivation. Hit the gym hard, eat right and your goals will come about!

Congrats

Congrats on the 9mos!

Your life sounds like it is the reverse of mine.

I joined the Army at 20 and started smoking right away. I spent 5.5 years in the Army and smoked for 10 years. It has been such a relief since I stopped 5+ years ago. It was tough.

I then struggled to find work when I got out of the Military and worked many jobs. Car sales, insurance sales and Furniture sales. I then landed a great job in Finance for a global Mortgage company where I stayed for 6 years. Earlier this year they laid off 2500 of us. Not nice!

So my question is: Have you considered the Air Force instead of the Army? I say this because the Air Force is better for the family life, advancement and learning skills to use on the outside. You will also find more time for classes as well.
I was an Intelligence Analyst and my Army experience did nothing for me in the Corporate world. I was led to believe it was going to help a lot based on words of encouragement from the recruiter but he was so wrong. I lived and learned the hard way.

Give some thought to another branch of service. I think you will find some better opportunities outside of the Army.

Regardless, Good Luck!

1st School isnt necessary for the Army. It just worked out that I went fishing with a recruter and made the comment to him .....If I had it to da all over again Id certainly do it in the military. (met alot of very happy people living in VaBeach and Jacksonville that were in the services.)Myself and my wife were very impressed with the lifestyle and the ability to see alot of this country and the world and experience it all. Well after I made that comment to him he told me that the Army moved its age elegibility to 42 for new recruits. So that gives me the opportunity to do it all over again. As far as the school thing goes the GI bill will take care of that if I ever come out. Honestly I plan to make it a career which is why the school is important because it is the road to being an officer. To my knowledge the Army is the only branch that will take me at age 33 and anyways I have to lose at least 78-80 lbs to even be concidered for any branch and not that I cant get there I do have a bit of time to weigh all my options.

Thanks for the reply
Ken
