Hello,

So I joined the gym just after christmas and have been going to the gym ever since, my sessions mainly consit of 30-50mins cardio and about 20mins weights. I have changed this up a bit lately and have started doing more weights than cardio mainly due to not loosing any weight!!

I'm twenty two years old and two years ago I began gaining weight at a very fast speed, going up two dress sizes within 6 months, from a size 10 to a 14/16, due to this I had a lot of tests done as my diet hadnt changed and I was very active walking miles and exercising on a reg. The hospital finally put it down to a hormone imbalance told me to go on the pill (had very heavy periods with it) and said that I would have trouble maintaining a healthy weight but NOT impossible.

Since then I have been going to the gym, my cardio I always change up from doing treadmil, bike, crosstrainer, stepper, and rower. With weights I mainly focus on my legs as they are full of cellulite after putting on loads of weights, I also do my arms but not as much. When I first started going to the gym, I started off doing 3 days a week, now I am doing 5-7 days, as well as getting my 10,000 steps in. (have a fitbit which is very helpful for tracking)

Diet wise, I have a fruit smoothie for breakfast which consists of soya milk or water, lunch it varies daily from rice and beans, to seasoned chicken and veg or even a stir fry. Dinner is normally chicken or fish again with potatoes, veg or salad. I allow myself one cheat meal a week mainly because I am a massive foodie and I would fall off the wagon without one! Ive recently restricted myself to 1,000 calories a day and when I do have a cheat meal I will work it off in the gym.

Even after nearly seven months I have gained even more weight!! I am now nearly another dress size up to a size 18!!! I went shopping the other day and nearly came away crying because nothing fit me! And I'm starting to feel really deflated after working so hard and getting no where! I think the most change has been in my legs, they are more toned and I have lost two inches from my thighs but nothing else!! My stomach is my main concern as its very flabby especially on the lower half of it.

After seven months of no progress I have no idea what I'm doing wrong!! I know my doctors said it would be harder to maintain a healthy weight but not impossible! Ive already restricted myself to 1,000 calories a day and if I go any lower I will seriously put myself at risk of starving myself! I cant spend 24/7 in the gym, I'm already spending 6-7 hours a week in there! I'm just starting to feel really down and depressed about the situation, if anyone has any tips or any way they can help itd be much appreciated!

what pill are you on ?
are you on any other medication?
do you have any other medical conditions?
hormonal imbalances are easy to sort out, especially as you are young. let me now the above info and i and others will provide some information that may help.

It's very common for doctors to just throw pills at people to sort out their hormone imbalances. It's only a superficial solution. Search for PCOS support boards, there's usually a lot of solid advice on there for balancing things in a more sustainable way.

Hi my friend so sorry about your difficulty.. maybe I can help you tweak this.. you did not say to much about the actual foods you are taking in.. There is some info that might do you wonders.. FDA estimates that 25% of the world's food crop is contaminated with mycotoxins/ bacterial toxins .. what are they .. there are products of metabolism from microbes .. eliminating these toxins is impossible .. you yourself are covered in your normal microbiota .. microbes that normally live on and within you .. if you take into consideration the storage processes for our grains .. these warm dark silos are perfect environments for the replication of microbes .. which are in the silos with the grains.. which is their food supply .. this is actually the competition stage .. because .. there is a variety of microbes in the silos .. which are all competing for the same food supply .. these microbes put out mycotoxins/bacterial toxins to kill off the other invading microbes that are competing for the same food supply.. and whatever microbe has the strongest toxin.. wins .. as all the other ones are now dead .. these toxins are actually used as antibiotics.. ever hear penicillin .. this is made from a mold .. these toxins are able to cross your cell membranes and interfere with the translation of newly transcribed proteins which are going to be secreted out of the cell and go function elsewhere within the body .. yes .. some function within the cell they were synthesized .. however .. a toxic protein which was mutated from the mycotoxin/bacterial toxins .. is now malfunctioning .. this can cause havoc throughout the body .. now .. I should also mention that these microbes are part of the normal microbiota .. which are parasites.. they live off you and within you .. these parasites = microbes are omitting the same chemicals within your system .. as there are many varieties of microbes within you competing for the same food supply which you provide ..

To Make a long story short .. theory behind these toxins is that they cause everything from autoimmune diseases like diabetes .. arthritis .. to .. weight gain .. or even .. cancer .. then you must take into consideration that these microbes prefer sugary Foods .. so not only do you have to worry about the foods that are contaminated with the mycotoxins you need to take into consideration that you're feeding the microbes that are living within your system .. with the sugary processed foods .. even potatoes .. in fact aspergillus mold a mold that grows in potatoes creates Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is a potent carcinogen that can induce hepatocellular carcinoma..

Focus on eating lean meats.. lean dairy.. low sugar fruits.. & .. veggies..
stay away from all bread products .. beans are mycotoxic.. high sugar fruits.. peanut/butter-very toxic.. pistachios as well it has to do with the shell .. alcohol in fact is a mycotoxin a low molecular weight Mycotoxin.. The low molecular weight means it is more slowly acting .. creating a toxic body .. need to limit your exposure here as well .. if you have recently ..or.. at all taken any number of antibiotics .. well .. the problem here it's like throwing gasoline on the fire meaning you are taking a larger dose of a mycotoxin .. to kill off the bacteria within your system .. but .. not only is it killing the harmful bacteria.. but .. it is also killing the beneficial bacteria .. which crowd out the harmful yeast and bacteria .. you may benefit from a good probiotic .. which would restore the beneficial bacteria within your system ..
