Hi there,

I am a 22 year old male who CIRCA 2006 weighed in at around 11 stones, I peaked at about 16.4. Since i started watching what i was eating I got down to about 220 pounds. I started a diet of minimal fat intake which consisted of

Breakfast - Cereal
Lunch - Brown bread sandwich with light philidelphia and turkey ham + alpen bar
Tea - Spaghetti on brown toast + muller rice

No snacking, water and diluting juice in between.

Monday - 220.4
Tues - 221.4
Wed - 217.6
Thurs - 214.7
Fri - 215.0
Sat - 215.2
Sun - 215.6

I was 213.4 yesterday but now 215 again today, doesn't really seem to be going anywhere! I know healthy weight loss is around 2 pounds a week but when I loose 5 in 5 days the second week gets me down when im putting some on and maybe losing 1 or 2!

Just here for some tips and advice really!

I think your body maybe going into starvation mode from not getting enough calories. For a male you should eat at minimal 1800 calories a day. Losing 5lbs in 5 days is very unhealthy. It sounds counter productive but you need to eat more so you can lose weight.

Thing is it was my flatmate who did this diet first and it never happened to him, and I don't feel starving very much, its fustrating running most days and dieting and putting on two pounds!

I agree with Fleur that you are not getting enough calories. If your running most days as you said then you defiantly need to feed your body more. Your metabolism from what I've read will actually slow down to meet your calorie consumption to some degree. For myself personally I want to have somewhere to go as I lose weight. About every 10 pounds my bmr drops by 50 calories, so over my journey my BMR is going to drop by 500 calories. Now If I had started my calories out really low and couldn't lower them anymore without going into a unhealthy range I could always exercise more, but Like most people I don't have hours and hours everyday to do that.

Have you looked up your BMR to see how many calories you should be eating for your height, weight and activity level? Are you keeping track of the calories your taking in? We could be completely off if your portion sizes are larger then we assume.

I would try adding in some healthy snacks through the day like almonds, low fat string cheese, yougurt, veggies etc.

Congrats on the weight loss so far tho! Keep at it and you'll have it off in no time :seeya:

Thanks for the help guys, it's appreciated.

I counted my calories roughly in at about 600-800, on days when I go to the gym 350 is burned off on the treadmill alone so I can see how my body isn't getting enough. I'm no fan of healthy food so trying to eat more is a bit difficult, the only way I could is by swapping a sandwich for a baguette, few extra cereal bars here and there. I'm a fit person who plays for 3 different football teams (close season so I don't have that to help me just now) but I eat alot of Dominos, coke, chocolate ect ect and that's what drags me down.
