trying to gain muscle....

i'm only 13, well 14 in 7 months, but a kid in my grade (same age as me), started lifting weights, and got pretty big and got skinny.i want to work on my upper body really not much my lower, like my arms,chest,back and shoulders.also my abs.i might be a little younge but i see my friend and what he looks like now....and i want to look better!!!can u tell me how to work on them things? please and thank you!
 
in my opinion you're too young, he may look better now, but he will probably stop growing prematurley (height).. so unless you're satisfied with your height for the rest of your life, i might wait another year..

run, and play sports!! soccer, football, baseball, they will all make you look more athletic!
 
Happy1...I would stay away from weights for now. You are just too young for now. Your bones are still developing...the last thing you want to do is to stress out your joints and bones with additional weight.

Stick with playing sports and eating reasonable. Have fun a 14 for now though...you'll have many more years to stress out about fitness...ok...stress out about everything :D



All that being said...if you are still going to hit the weights (I assume people are as thick headed as me sometimes), then please...PLEASE keep the weight very, very low and just work on high reps. Again...I do NOT recommend weights for you at this time, but if you are not going to listen to me, then listen...wait...

How do you people with kids do this??? Now I know why my parents always said "Because I said so"
