Trying to Bulk but need help (Newbie)

Hi, I'm new to the forums and somewhat new to bulking. I am 6' 2", 19 years old and I weigh 143lbs. I am the definition of skinny. I used to work out regularly and hit the gym about 5 times a week doing heavy weight and low rep exercises (machines/free weights) and it was working great I was lifting more and getting toned. But I was not putting on weight (maybe 1-2 pounds a month) and I was still staying so skinny. My bodyfat is fairly low its at around like 14%.

My main concern is my metabolism. Its rediculously high, I can eat just about anything and never see its results. I just started a Bulking diet, I normally take in around 1500-2000 calories a day as I have a tendency to not eat full meals.

The diet I created has me eating about 4 large meals a day with snacks in between. its 4,600 Calories (With a protein shake) and 307 grams of protein. I know this seems like a durastic change but i've been on it for about 2 days now and I can suprisingly consume that amount food with a fair effort. I weighed 140 lbs about 2 days ago and now am at 143-144. These weights are taken both in the morning before i've eaten/drank and after a bowel movement. I think these gains are rediculous.

My main question is should I work out alot now or should I give myself a few weeks to pack on the pounds? What are the downsides of putting on so much weight?

*I don't mind a bit of fat, I'm not looking to be ripped at the moment I just want a general base. My goal is to be around 170lbs in 3 months (or so I hope).

I'm not a pro or anything and have a few questions up on this board myself. I do know though that if you want to bulk up you have to work out. The entire point is to give your muscles the calories it needs to grow bigger while working out, not just gaining the fat.

Yea i guess that is a very good point. Like I said before I used to hit the gym regularly, for about 3-4 months and did not see much gains. I am skinny and i figured that ahs alot to do with it. two of my best friends hit the gym with me for that period and they were about 6 foot and weighed about 220-230 lbs each. Now this was mainly fat because they *WERE* not very active. but in that 3 month period doing about the same routine as me (Of course they lifted more weight because of their base) and by the end of the 3rd month they both weighed about 190-200lbs and were jacked. I figure it has to dow ith their diets over mine but did their body fat have anything to contribute to this?
