Trying something new!

Hey everyone.

For those who are stumped on what you can do to make exercise more interesting, here is something I am going to try, starting this weekend.

I am starting a walking club all the way over here in China. I live in a very cool city with tons of parks and beautiful places to stroll right in my general vicinity. I have walked them all extensively. Sadly, with the odd exception of my daughter or wife coming along, I walk alone.

Then the idea, why not post a few ads on a couple local forums for foreginers and expats and see what happens. Lo-and-behold, almost 12 people have contacted me so far and are interested in joining my club. Now not only will I have people to talk to while I am walking, but I am sure it is going to turn into a sort of face-to-face fitness support group. Not only that, but perhaps I can convince some of them to come work out with me in the gym, play sports, or if nothing else, make friends.

I posted a couple weeks ago, and now after my recent trip to Thailand I am ready to begin sweating with some new friends. If I can do this and find people to do it with me in China, I am sure you can do it too!

that is super awesome! how exciting! i hope you have a great time and meet some really great friends to share your fitness goals with...great job! good luck!
 
way to take the initiative to do something like that - that's great... :D congratulations and may your club be successful and i hope you make some new friends out of it
