At the suggestion of another forum member – thank you eyckmans :) – I have decided to start a journal. I am not sure what will go in here yet, I think I am just going to let it grow and see what happens :D

A little about me I am 39 years old. I have a beautiful partner and I am the father of 2 wonderful children. I am about 5’11” and 3 months ago weighed around 23½ stone

My weight has yo-yoed throughout my life and every time I ‘get big’ again it is even bigger than the time before! I cannot allow this to keep happening for the sake of my own health and because I want to be there in the future for my family.

So this time it is for good, I am not just going to lose all this unwanted fat but I am going to keep it off. That means I am going to have to change things – not just what I eat – but how I live my life.

I hope you can all help me when things get tough :)

Hi, I came over to check out your new thread. You've got the right attitude to succeed at this. Looking forward to reading your diary :)

Hi eyckmans thanks for popping by :)

I have decided to join the lose 10lbs in August Challenge. Seems about right for me! That pretty much what I have been aiming for during the last few months.

I know I shouldn’t weigh myself everyday and it can be self defeating but for the last three days my weight has reached a plateau :(

I know these things happen, and I haven’t cheated food wise, so I am confident the scales should start moving the right way soon, fingers crossed its before the first weigh in!

The challenges are a great motivator. Good luck with losing 10lb :)

Thanks for the support eyckmans - it truly is appreciated :)

Weighed myself again this morning -1st 'mini week' weigh in of the challenge - and thats one more pound gone. Not as much as I would have liked but at least its a step (even if just a tiny one) in the right direction. Harder work required for next weeks weigh in!

Well done on another pound gone. If I ever start to think that 1lb isn't much of a loss then I look at lb lump of meat and realize that it's like having that sliced off me :D

Again wise words eyckmans – That is a very positive outlook you have :)

The weight I have lost already is comparable to the weight of my eldest daughter! If you put it like that it brings things into perspective, but then I still want to lose more than as much again! All things in good time I suppose :D

While I am here:

The scales were on my side again this morning, almost 1kg down, but then as I said they had been ‘stuck’ for a few days ;) lol

Weigh in day again, only going fortnightly now as it seems things are moving in the right direction. That’s almost 4kgs gone in 2 weeks :)

All going well for the August 10lb challenge, not to mention my personal ‘mini goal’ of moving out of the obese BMI range by the New Year. That sounds a long way off and I will need to keep up a loss rate of around 2½lbs a week for the next 5 months! Wow that’s pressure :)

Obviously it will become increasingly more difficult, as my weight gets lower, to maintain such a figure. But, I guess, that’s the sort of ‘problem’ I don’t mind looking forward to :D

Time to edit my ticker again!

Good News!

After almost a week of resolutely refusing to budge the scales were on my side this morning! I had been sticking to my plan so I was confident it would move :)

I am done with the 19’s and into the 18’s (just!) ;)

120.2 kg is as I am sure you will all realise 18 stone 13lbs :hurray:

Well done, I love reaching milestones :D

Weigh in again this week, only 3kg (well nearly 3) lost during this fortnight. Mind you the scales didn’t move AT ALL for the 1st week, but began to fall steadily in the 2nd and the good news is its still going, fingers crossed for a good start to September :)

The August 10lb challenge is getting close to completion and I’ve done my 10 :D Roll on September. Feeling quite good at the moment a few people who haven’t seen me for a while have commented that they have noticed the change, which is a big boost.

Things to remind myself: Trousers are a waist size smaller and actually fit rather than squeezing myself into the biggest size I could find! Shirt Collar down 2 sizes and I haven’t ‘popped’ a button for months :)
