Treadmill

I'm thinking of buying a treadmill for myself.

Obviously, the majority of you live in the USA, but I live in Scotland, so I won't get into how much it costs etc, but let me assure you, it is quite a lot!

Anyway, the one I am looking at goes from 0 - 6.2mph, now obviously, if they're selling this, it must make you work up a sweat, but do you think it's worth buying ones at this speed? To get a faster one, e.g. 0 - 7mph, it costs at least another £100.

Basically, what I want to know is, is 6.2mph a decent speed to be running at? Cheers.

can you get something used? maybe from a gym?

Up to 6.2 mph is good if you're just starting to run, but if you want something to last you a few years, you'll want something that goes at least to 8 mph.

This isn't to say you'll be doing long-endurance runs at over 6 mph, but rather, when you want to do intervals (which I highly recommend) you'll want a much higher speed than that.

What about incline?

Thanks for your replies guys.

I'll have a look in my local 'yellow paper' as it's called, to look for used treadmills, a good idea! However, I did see another treadmill yesterday, for £295 (£5 cheaper) which goes up to 8mph as you just said would probably prove to be a better speed in the long run.

Also, both threadmills I've seen,(although if I don't see any 2nd hand treadmills I'm interested in, then I'd probably go for the £295 one, it makes sense, doesn't it?) both have an incline of three stages.

:D
