Treadmill suggestions

Hey,

I'm looking to buy a cheapish treadmill and wondered if anyone knew of any good ones that will support 23.5st+ all the ones I find are usually £800+

I'd prefer to be able to buy a cheapish one and excercise in my own home rather than paying to go to a gym. That way there's no excuse not to excercise lol.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Steve

the problem with the cheapish ones is that they are usually cheap -and not well constructed... if you're 120lbs -it's not a big deal, but when you're heavier, you want something more solid.

You're best bet is to look at used equipment... check your local newspapers -generally feb or march is when the resolutioners give up on the resolutions and the equipment they purchased very well intentionedly becomes a clothes rack in the bedroom and they'll unload it cheaply.

The US has a chain called Play it Again Sports that sells pretty much nothing but used equipment - each store has different merchandise but the prices are usually pretty good.

Steve,

If you have a craigslist site for your area you should check that often (). I got my treadmill on there from a lady that was giving hers away b/c she wanted to clean out her garage. The only thing wrong with it was that the incline/decline function was broken...otherwise it's been working good for me. Maybe you'll find some luck there too.

Best,
Jai

Cheap treadmills aren't really a good idea, imo. Most of the time you get what you pay for. If you can find a screaming deal on a used one on craigslist or in the newspaper, that is great. Just make sure that it's specifications (i.e. motor output, belt size, weight capacity) are what you need them to be for you to exercise safely. Treadmills are excellent pieces of exercise equipment and can give you a great workout. It'll be extra nice to have one at home.

Treadmill reviews

Morning,

If you're looking to get a treadmill, here are some reviews for you:

Whenever I get anything for the home, I try to go for quality; it has to last a long time and as such, I don't want it breaking on me. My Precor Elliptical has been around in my house now for 10 years and is still going great.

Data points,

Barbara

Hey all,

Thanks for the replies. I was having a look on those websites but none of them see to mention the York Brand
()

Is this just because it's mainly a UK brand and not US? Has anyone used the York ranges, any thoughts on them? They seem to be best value for the higher weight limits (23st 8lbs on the T202 above)

Thanks Steve

find a place that sells them andgo try one out... that's going to be your best review...

I have to agree with that - I had done all of my treadmill research years ago and when it came time to buy, tried out every one in the store and ended up going with a Precor Elliptical.

Data points,

Barbara

can't do that either. sucks, but that's life right now. the only gym I know of (that has english speaking people and english writting on the equipment) is on base and their treadmills SUCK. so I know what I DON'T want, but that doesn't help narrow the choices down enough to allow me to buy one on-line.:banghead:

research research research.

google is your friend...

find some models that are available to you
and put the internet to good use
check amazon.com and read reviews
go to epinions.com and read reviews

Amazon is a godsend

Morning,

Amazon sells all sorts of great exercise thingees! They even have daily deals at - lots of good discounts there.

Enjoy,

Barbara

amazon sells treadmills? I thought I was going to have to go through bigfitness or something.

thanks!!:leaving:

a lot of companies partnered with amazon because they pretty much set the standard for distribution... so amazon will sell products by other stores...

Other places to try -and I don't know if they ship overseas (amazon has european distribution outlets) is ...

But what's nice about amazon, is the customer reviews... that you can read what people think abouot a product before buying it..

thanks for the tips mal. I appreciate it. and amazon ships to military boxes so I don't have to worry about them not being able to get it to me. THANKS!
