trapezius problems

Any suggestions on good ways to stretch, massage, or repair a jacked up trap?

Several years ago I was working in an environment which was the exact opposite of ergonomic. The primary problem was that my computer monitor was down almost right under my nose, so I was looking down at it while sitting upright for about 10 hours per day.

A neck injury resulted, but not actually in my neck. The injury is down between my shoulder blades just at the spine. It hurts horribly when I look different directions or support the weight of my skull from certain angles. It's also tough to get comfortable for sleep.

This pain comes and goes, and sometimes will stay gone for as long as several weeks. When it returns it can ruin life for a few days, and sometimes lingers for over a week.

I try to treat it by massaging it by rolling on my foam roll, but it's hard to hit it at just the right angle. It's also tough to stretch it. I got no money to get myself a deep tissue massage.

You could use a ball to hit it better with self myofascial release. As long as it's not up around the cervical spine.

If I were you though, given the length of time you were sitting with bad posture, I'd hit up and find a provider.

medical insurrance?? and sports doctor,, if this was muscle it would be repaired by now, looking at a: tendon, b: spinal injury, C: stuff a forum can't handle :( if this just happened, i would say stretch/massage/self exercise. therapy = laying on a table and moving your head up and down from different angles to exercise the muscles.. but after that and for this long, it's doctor time
