Training for life, and the new job

Hello all, my name is Pat and I have decided to enter into the world of exercise and healthy living habits. I have just been accepted into a volunteer fire department, but would like to train a bit before and a lot after my actual training and courses. I am 240 lbs, and six foot six inches tall, 20 years old. My usual diet (if you can call it that) consists of eggs and bacon for breakfast (with a soda), and a soda and a cigarette for lunch, and then usually some steak or whatever Mom makes for dinner, followed by a cigarette and some cheese nips or goldfish for a snack. I would like to lose some weight (about 40-60 lbs) and gain it back in muscle.

Currently, I can run a mile in about fourteen minutes. Quite sad indeed. My girlfriend of two years recently broke up because I was turning into a couch potato. I want to build myself up, not to get back to her, but to prove to myself that I can do it. Currently my exercise routine is biking on our exercise bike at home. I throw my 360 on the TV and sit on the bike for a few hours.

Hope to get to know some of you, and hope I start exercising once I finish posting this oen
