Total Newby here!

Hi everyone, Im Mr.Scott and im from England, I am guessing I should post in here finally, instead of putting it off.

I am looking for some tips on everything seeing as I have never done anything like this before, I have always been pretty active and into football (soccer) until the last year or so, however I played football the other week and was feeling really unfit and tired after about 5 minutes, and I cant rarely play anymore due to other commitments.

Anyway I am looking at getting my fitness levels back up to scratch but am wanting to put some size and definition on too, especially on my arms, shoulders chest as they are a little scrawny I think, the thing is I cant get into my local gyms until new year so could use some advice on what I can start doing from home to start building my strength.

I know there is push ups, sit ups and squats but do you just do as many as you can in a given day or do you just keep to a certain number?

Also I am looking for a diet that I can do week in week out, I like eggs, fish, salads etc etc, but am unsure on how much I should eat and when I should eat them. I will also buy some protein shakes and whatever else people think would help me out.

Any advice on how I can do all this would be appreciated greatly. and ive read a few journals and am interested in doing my own once I have a plan.

Thanks in advance,
Mr.Scott

Oh ive attached some pictures for you to see what I look like at present.

Welcome Mr. Scott. A combination of weight training (either with weights or body weights) and cardio is a good way to lose fat and gain some musculature. As for diet, try fitday.com. There are forums for weight training and bodyweight training. Generally, 3 weight training sessions / week with 3 sets of 10 reps is a good starting point.
