Hey Everybody! Figured I would start here and post on my journey. I am 34, married and have two kids, daughter is 9 and son is almost 7. I work on the construction industry in the management side of things. I work primarily out of town in the state of Utah, my family comes with me which is awesome! I started to loose weight back in Mid October with a starting weight of 278 lbs (FYI I am 6'-2") Just before Christmas I was down to 263 lbs. However, with the holidays and returning back into the office i am back up to around 273 lbs. ( I know all that hard work shot!) Anyways i needed to find a place that i could record my thoughts and help with some accountability. I guess my push to do something like this comes from my daughter that happened this morning. She happened to see me with my shirt off and asked what happened because of all the marks (my stretch marks). Not sure why it was that trigger but something just hit me and realized i needed to find some way to make my self accountable and get back on track.

When i was loosing the weight at the end of last year i was alone out of town (the family had to go home to start getting therapy going for my son) so it was easy for me to control what i ate. However the project i was on ended and now i am home and in the office. I realized the other day that i have no self control when i get home. I do great when i am at work and eat the food that i packed, but once i step foot in the house it is a free for all!! Hopefully doing this will help keep my on track better.

Sorry to have bored you with all the little details, but this is to at least let you know where i am coming from. Now for the fun stuff.

Goal: To loose weight at a steady pace. Ultimate goal is to get down to my marriage weight, about 210 lbs and more!

The Plan:

Exercise - We have an elliptical in our bedroom and this is going to be the primary resource for me. It also can turn into a recumbent bike as well. I also have access to some gym equipment at work, but time does not bod well for that. Plan to research some non weight exercises that can be done at home. This is so i have something i can do when i am leaving out of town and do not have access to equipment.

The Diet - I have actually found what works best for me when in town and out of town. I eat small meals every 3 hours while i am at work and then eat a normal dinner with the family. Here is a breakdown of what a normal day looks like.

6:00 AM - Breakfast sandwich (Whole Wheat English Muffin, a slice of Canadian Bacon, Egg White and a slice of Swiss Cheese)
9:00 AM - Slim fast drink
12:00 PM - Normally i have a salad with a serving of chicken breast. Sometimes i switch it up but keep the calories low
3:00 PM - Protien bar and an apple (or Serving of Fruit)
6:00 PM - Dinner with the family, try to keep the servings low.
and to keep my self open and honest with my current status.- kids go to bed and no hold bars on ANYTHING while i wind the day down watching tv with the wife.

So there you have it. I am sure you have questions/comments and I am happy to answer them.

Welcome aboard Tony,

I share a similar background height/weight, goals and motivation. My 9 year old daughter started gymnastics in the fall and I was getting tired of her poking my belly :)

I like your eating plan of every few hours and can relate to things going off the rails from time to time.

Thanks guys!

Feelinggooder - Both my kids get enjoyment of poking my belly, that was what started me to loose last year. The eating plan works really well for me. There are times that i can not take a true lunch with problems on the site so i tend to eat quick grab type meals.

Welcome to the forum, Tony. Kids are a great incentive to get fit & healthy. Good for you!
