Tony Little's Gazelle?

I always thought a Gazelle sounded like fun. But we have no more room here for any other machines. My best friend says we already have our own gym here.

If it works for you stick with it. I think that losing weight has to do with a variety of things and one of them is changing routine!

BTW, not sure how nice of a treadmill you have, but we found the cheaper they are the worse they are as far a performance and "fun" (if a treadmill can be fun!) We've got a really nice one now which I can't remember the name atm, but got it from a fitness shop.

I guess the reason why I'm popping in here is to add that I do workouts on both our treadmill and our elliptical to get a different type of exercise and that my body doesn't get used to the same old stuff. Plus I add in weight toning exercises (via pilates and a toning machine I have.)

Good luck!

I totally agree! I do need to start doing both that way my body doesnt get used to it..:) Thanks for the input!

Congrats on finding something that you like to do Stacy :) Calorie counters aren't always super correct, but its ALWAYS possible, and I think you got a bad rap in the beginning there. More power to ya!

I think you're more likely to stick to exercise if you find it fun - and challenging.

Those cal counters can definitely be off, but if you're feeling the burn and sweating - there's no "off" about that. :)

I think the better cal counters at least take into account your weight, but even then it's shot in the dark.

What do you think my "definition" is anyways? Not sure how you have anything to compare it to.. All I said is that it works for me and is not a boring machine. My weight loss comes from excercise, water, and cutting my calories. Thats my definition.

Your definition = lose weight

And I wasn't being negative. Chill.

Gazelle Edge orrrr Gazelle Freestyle

Hi...I'm new to exercising and this forum...I'm 5.4 and 134pds...but reason number one is this long winter and feeling so so out of shape...I walk to the barn and lose my breath soooooooooo...went out and got this Gazelle Edge from Toni Little ..now the is the Gazelle Edge and Freestyle ..does anyone know the diff between the two or is it just one has dvds included.???
looking forward to your posts.:lurk5:

Price: $199.99
holds up to 300 pound

Price: $99.95
. The Edge holds up to 250 pounds

Price and weight limit seem to be the biggest difference...

but from what i've seen they're both a waste of money - you can get a better workout by walking...

The Gazelle

I lift weights but have an injured shoulder. So I've had to lay off that for awhile and am using the Gazelle. Anyone use it and, if so, does it help with cardio and weight loss?

Hello,
I own Tony Little's Gazelle, the very basic one with nothing to make it glide harder or easier.
Anyway, people have been telling me that this machine is not sufficient enough for fat loss.
So anyway, I tested it out with my heart rate monitor and did a 30 minute cardio workout on it and I easily met 150 beats per minute and I could have easily have gone higher. That is well above my elevated heart rate for fat burning, so in my opinion, it is sufficient enough for fat loss as it has proven to elevate the heart to the proper zone. professionals say all we need to do for proper cardio is elevate our heart rate fast enough to meet our personal fat burning zone, and this machine past the test. To tell you the truth, I think almost anything that helps us move fast will do the trick. A lot of people believe it has to be a machine where you can make it really hard to move and so on, but if that is what they want, there not trying to burn fat, they are wanting to tone and build muscle or work on endurance, not fat loss. We just need to elevate our heart for proper fat loss.
Any opinions regarding this machine and other comments are welcome. Thank you.

I have bad knees and this is one of the few things I can safely do. I too use a heart rate monitor and it does indeed give you a cardio workout. I take medication that keeps my heart rate slower than most people's would be. But it still raises it considerably.

I think a lot depends on how you use it. I think for weight loss you get better results with resistance. But a certain amount of cardio is needed. With resistance, however, your body continues to burn fat 24 hours after you workout. Not so with any kind of cardio.

I own the Gazelle and it definitely makes me break a sweat. The faster you do it, the more you push your self the more calories you burn off.
