a friend of mine started losing weight with me- the last 2 weeks she has stayed the same weight though she has been working out religiously like me but shes hit a plateau (i take little breaks from my diet to avoid a pleateau but she wont)

so just weighted in and she s the same as the last 2 weeks and shes getting annoyed, i told her that even if shes not losing pounds shes losing inches (i know from her jeans thay are loose on her belly and two weeks ago they were kinda tight

She doesnt believe me though and thinks that was water weight

So whos right? Is going to the gym even when you havnt lost weight still benifical as it tones you?

You are right Princess... The scale is not the ONLY way to judge your weight-loss. You can loose inches without loosing weight. I'm sure you've read the scale mentality, but you might print it out for your friend. I know its a hard concept to grasp and I think most of us would rather see the number on the scale go down.

I think its great that you have someone to lose weight with! And you're doing great btw! 28 pounds!! Whoot Whoot! Keep it up!

It could go either way. While it's silly to rely on the scale as the only metric for judging success, it's also silly to believe we can figure out if things are 'working' without factoring in her nutrition (energy balance). Her nutrition is the primary driver when it comes to fat loss.

honestly she lives on cereal and sandwiches thats ALL she eats, she hates veg and soup , hates water...

Tbh i dont know how she lost weight to begin with

So it sounds like she eats like hell, which is obviously unhealthy. But health and caloric deficit are not synonymous. Without knowing calorie intake, there isn't much that can be assessed here beyond how nutritious (or lack of nutrition) her diet is.
