toning up ?

Hey im new here so sorry if this is the wrong place. :)
I was looking for advice on toning up my tummy.I am 5'5 and about 8 stone 10, so i dont know if i should lose more weight to help? Or if i just need to be doing the right exercises. It doesnt stick out too much but its the sides i reallly hate and the small bit of fat at the bottom which never seems to go, i feel so self conscious of it.
The only thing is, if i do need to lose weight i really dont want it to come off my bum, but i dont suppose there is much i can do about that?
Any ideas would be appreciated,thanks

If you want the fat gone, you need to eat less calories than you expend. The fat will be burned from "all over" though, everyone seems to have places where the fat gets taken from first and last.

If you're afraid of getting a flat bum, then I'd suggesting building up the butt muscles, this will be hard while you are in a calorie deficit, but after that you could start eating a small surplus while doing exercises like squats, deadlifts and lunges (you should also work other parts of your body for balance) to put some size on the glutes.

At 122 pounds (US) I wouldn't really expect that you want to lose any weight and you would probably be better served doing exercises that tone your mid section, like sit-ups and or crunches or any exercises designed to tone your abs.

I'm no expert, and I'm sure people with much more experience will be more specific as to what you can do for you problem.

sorry, I must have skipped the weight part because I don't know much about stones :p

Yeah, at that low a weight you might not want to lose more weight, but who knows.

Also, if you can "tone" your midsection depends what you put in the word "tone" if you mean to define it (to lose the fat) the only way you can do this is with a deficit and to lose fat from all over. No exercises will tighten things up. You could add muscle mass to some muscles making them more visible through the layer of fat that lies above them, making you look more defined.
