Toning Up

Well, I've never posted anything like this before, so I guess I'll just log my activity and food progress.

I'm 4'11" and quite muscular, and weigh 110 pounds. Quite frankly, I have no idea what my body fat percentage is but I'm guessing it's pretty low because the only place I have much fat to pinch is on my buns/thighs. Anyways, I used to weigh 103 a little over a year ago, and 106 in September. But, to make it down to an even number I want to get down to around 95-100lbs.

I run addictively and everyone at the gym knows my name. I also love the Gilad body shaping videos.

Today, my workout: 50 minutes of running at increasing speeds to keep up my heart rate, 15 min of walking at highest incline at speed of 4.0. Then, I spent 40 minutes doing tons of arm and shoulder stuff (and a little bit of abs) while waiting for my boyfriend to finish a meeting.

Today, i didn't eat the best--however, I anticipated I'd be eating crap with my b/f, so I toned it down during the day.

orange, 8oz light yogurt, apple, pretzels, ½ c light vanilla ice cream w/peanuts & syrup, 1 bbq chicken wing, slice pizza.

I also had some diet beverages, but didn't include them because they're 0 cals. I might do some more ab work before I go to bed.

When you say do ab work before bed do you mean a nightly thing?
People often think that they will "tone up" their midsections by doing 100 or 200 situps every day. I dont mean to insult you if you already know this, but you will not accomplish a ripped mid section or target any fat by doing outrageous amounts of situps. You would be better off doing them 3 days per week, 3-4 sets of no more than 15, control the eccentric motion and possibly hold the crunches in a static pose to really burn them, or incorporate weights. I promise this is an effective way to zap your abs.
Again, my appologies if you are alreay aware of all this.

I really like shortness! my fiance is the same height as me! When I wear platforms I'm taller than he is!! lol !

Running is the best, Gilad will give you a heart attack! That dude has got it goin on. So if you can do those videos you are in great shape. Wish I could say I only have a pinch on my thighs!!

you have any kids?
 
I read recently in "Allure" magazine about focusing on working harder ab-wise rather than doing a ton of reps. So, I've been doing crunches and the rest of my routines with 5- to 10-lb weights and a medicine ball to keep up the intensity.

Today, I ran for 1hr.20min., and I'm just beat so I probably won't being doing much else...my arms are sore from yesterday.

Ate junk today...but hey, it's Friday! :D 6oz fruit on the bottom yogurt, 6” turkey sub on wheat w/black olives, handful pretzels, 3oz fat free yogurt, 100 calorie bag popcorn, 6oz light ‘n’ fit yogurt, pudding snack.

As for kids, I don't have any yet, but have some plans w/ my SO for the next few years regarding that. I almost had a heart attack when he said his dream family was 5 boys within 5-6 years:eek: --don't know that that exact plan will be coming to fruition! We'd definitely have to upgrade our living situation in that case!
 
For the past three days, I've been craving cheesecake/apple crisp like crazy though I probably haven't had either in like a year! However, I'm trying to avoid it because storebought cheesecake has a zillion calories, and if I make one myself I'll probably end up eating the whole thing:eek: !

Anyways, I haven't been able to devote to much time to exercise today :mad: because I've been swamped with homework & had to work today. I did Gilad's Body Sculpt Plus video, and I'm planning to do 30 min of intervals on the exercise bike before bed.

I was so mad that I was out of apples, and to lazy to go to the store to get them, so this is what I ate: 6oz light’n’fit creamy yogurt, salad w/lite Italian dressing, 8oz light yogurt, serving pretzels, ½ c ice cream, serving cole slaw.

Got a new pair of these spandex workout pants today that were backordered...however, since I hate my thighs, I don't know when they'll be making their public debut.

Hopefully, I'll still be able to hold off on that craving or find a healthy alternative.

We'll see about pix of the spandex pants:p ...however, I lied. I did go out to Walmart wearing them because I was in a rush last night.

Anyways, due to work (which caused me to miss doing face painting at a kid's b-day party--and it would have been for pay, no less) and my self-imposed freakout over several summer midterms tomorrow:eek: , my eating/exercise habits have been dismal today.

I did do an hour-ish tape of Gilad, but I feel like a slacker...I guess it's just a blah kind of day.

Food:3” turkey sub w/black olives, orange, 1c soup, 1c steamed carrots, 1c beef & broccoli stir "fry," reduced sugar oatmeal made w/ H20, 1 c light ice cream, handful nuts, pretzels.

Okay, and I admit that I'm eating some low-quality braekfast cereal right now--but hey, gotta keep up the energy for an all-night study fest!

I swear, if I read one more thing about ancient Rome...

Thanks! I just had a question..I'm most likely going to be up all night hitting the books (as I am now). Due to work & other commitments I only have like an hour or so of free time right before class. I could either run (I'm a treadmill girl--if I don't run at the gym, I'll just do the exercise bike & weights later) or study/sleep. Which would be more beneficial to my health?

You know, I suppose that it would have been common sense that not getting enough sleep would slow down your metabolism. However, though I'm a whiz at book things like chem and history, I admittedly lack common sense-type smarts--to be honest, I dodn't know where the latch is to open my car hood :eek: (and yes, I looked by the front grill-it's not there!) But boy could I draw you a pic of the chemical structure of just about any polymer! Maybe the sleep info will inspire me to abandon my night-owl ways.

Anyways, nutso day full of studying (a classic Monday)...and my midterms were pretty easy. However, in comparison to other people, my answers were like novels--I kind of feel bad for the professors that have to read my stuff:) .

After work, I did 30 minutes of intervals on my exercise bike with my rambunctious Cairn Terrier trying to chase my feet the whole time (cute for the first minute, and irksome from there on out). Then, I followed that up with some weights for my arms and shoulders and an ab routine that I have posted on my door.

Food:reduced sugar oatmeal w/H20, 2 spoonfuls light ice cream, 6oz light ‘n’ fit yogurt, 100 calorie pop, apple, 8oz fruit on the bottom yogurt, salad w/lite Italian dressing, serving pretzels.

Actually, the salad was this excessively spiky Mesculan Mix--the leaves looked like they came from my lawn in the thick of dandelion season:D . Well, I suppose that's what I get for buying something merely because the purply spinach looked whimsical.

Believe me! Eating wasn't a problem for me today-:) -I went to a dinner party (I did skip the dinner party) and indulged in some great desserts. I have a ridiculous sweet tooth. Normally frosting on brownies is a turn-off to me, but these were amazing.

Before my overindulgence of all things chocolate, I ate: apple, 2 saturn peaches, twizzler, 8oz light yogurt, serving ziti w/ turkey sausage & vegetables, 3/4 c light ice cream.

Then, I went to the gym and they had a bunch of new treadmills and had fixed & cleaned the old ones! Unfortunately, I didn't really get to enjoy them because I stupidly ate dinner right before I went:( . However, I did run for an hour. Did arms/shoulders workout and abs at home.

Earlier today I did lose a pound or so (due to my extremely poor vision, I couldn't exectly differentiate between the little black lines). However, I feel blah and really full right now and swear I've gained 10lbs in the past few hours--but I'm sure I'll be over that in a few hours once I've digested.

Aha. All "PMs" made me think of were those pims cookies that they sell in the random european section of the grocery store.

Speaking of which, when I got home from a dinner party yeasterday at like midnightish, I had a random urge to bake. So I succumbed to the urge and used up this ff sour cream in my fridge. I made a raspberry swirl coffee cake that was quite low in calories (140/slice) compared to regular coffee cakes which are like 300-400/slice.

Anyways, I was feeling randomly inspired today when I went to the gym so after 50 minutes of running, I decided to try one of the programs on the treadmill. I did this one that was tons of hi-lo intensity/speed for 30min, which I think would count as HIIT. Unusual for me, I felt like I couldn't get a deep breath in:eek: .

Food: 1.5 slice reduced calorie coffee cake, reduced sugar oatmeal w/H2O, 6oz light ‘n’ fit yogurt, boca burger w/smart beat cheese substitute & onions on bun, apple, ¼ personal pan pepperoni pizza, ½ c light ice cream, ¼ c regular ice cream.

Then, I went to spectate at this baseball game of my boyfriend's that he was subbing for someone in. He forced me to eat part of that personal pan pizza that was from a gas station...I was kind of creeped out because I'm super picky when it comes to food. Like how long are those things sitting out? :confused: I doubt it's carefully monitored.

Finally, I'm excited that #1 I'm grilling steak tomorrow for dinner (steak has been my favorite food since I was 5yrs. old) :p and #2 the women's outdoor tennis league starts tomorrow:) ...I've been a little rusty since I haven't played regularly since the indoor tennis club closed at the beginning of May.

i think i should use some of the programs on my treadmill too i never bothered to even look at what they are all about,but it sounds like its a better workout,right?
 
I was so pumped to play tennis today, left the gym early and everything. However, when I got there, the place was empty:confused: . I must have gotten the day/time wrong. I feel like a total dork.
