To those who lost weight, facial sagging !

I just read this horrifying fact :

Many morbidly obese people have large round faces and very full heavy necks. The fullness of the face and neck are a result of the excess fat. As these morbidly obese people lose weight, their faces lose their youthful appearance and they look older than they did when they were obese. There can actually be an impressive aging result as the weight loss continues. The face looks deflated and sags. This sagging of the facial skin creates heavy appearing lines, especially around the cheek. As the cheek loses fat in hangs lower and will cause shadows on the face. The cheek can have a ‘Saint Bernard' look, with heavy nasolabial folds and jowls extending below the angle of the jaw.

I'm 28 year old, 247 Ib heavy ! , I have 103 Ib to lose, I'm SO afraid to loose my facial fat too.
I'm planning to lose the excess weight over 5 months.
To those who succeded in loosing weight , how did you avoid facial sagging.

Thanks alot

I don't think that's true!

You can't look any worse. LOL.

It only gets better.

Cause god, I don't wanna look old when I lose my weight.

Im notticing some excess skin around my arms and even though it scares me I want more to be healthy then to look good. and I want to look good badly trust me. But if looking young means weighing 250lbs count me out. I want to live long and healthy

Where exactly did you snag that "article" from? It sounds more like an opinion than actual scientific fact. So far everyone that I've seen who has lost a tremendous amount of weight, look years (even decades) younger. That's just an observation on my part.

As for your weight loss goal, is there something coming up in 5 months? Reason being, a hundred pounds in 5 months is really quick... and heaven knows, fast weight loss results in sagging/ lose skin all over. Just take that into consideration since you're worried about "facial sagging."

In my case I have gotten older looking - but - but then again I'm not young to begin with and never have looked young - so it's not the same thing...

At your age, you stand a great chance of your skin bouncing back - you shouldn't have a problem - just lose the weight at a reasonable pace and you won't have a problem

Hi ,
Thanks all for caring to answer.
I found the article while I was "Googling"about my worries. I will bring the link here as soon as I find it again.
I'm not saying one should stop considering and acting upon solving his weight problems just because s/he is afraid of facial sagging! I was just looking for suggested ways to avoid the sagging.
Lots of people go for plastic surgeries after weight loss to bring them back the previous young looks. But definitely they are painful & risky and I don't want to go through that.
Body sagging can be avoided with the well known excersizes , but I don't know ways to avoid the facial ones.

Unimpressive , Yeah :) may be you are right . Thanks
Today900 , Healthy vs Beautiful, can't we have both?, Thanks alot
MsGhettoBooty , I don't mind to lose them in 10 months instead, but I'm hoping to reach the goal in 5 months. Sagging will be dealt with by excersize. Thanks for your reply.
maleficent THANKS for the encouragement ! It was convincing, thanks alot.

Ironman , WOW ! You ARE an ironman :) Great job. & may be men don't suffer much of this problem or may be you were still in your teenage or early 20s. Or were you following any facial excersizes? I heard about some.

Congratulations & Thanks for your reply

there are facial exercises I know women of my long deceased grandmother's generation used to do to prevent double chins and the jowly things that some women get - weight loss or not - i reallything most facial sagging comes from aging - and loss of skin elasticity rather than losing of weight...

Bah, Mal! I've seen your befores and nows at sparkpeople. Honestly, I think you look much younger and no, I'm not saying that to kiss your ass. haha Just stating the truth.

Its has more to do with age. For me I was 24 when I started. I had age/time on my side. Things haden't started to go so south on me yet. Although if you look at my befores you will see I had a TON of fat in my face and neck area. I think exercising and being young were the two biggest factors in my physic.

lmfao @ 'fact'

Don't cancel your weight loss just yet. I think you'll find out this is just a bunch of bullshit.

My personal experience was my face tightened up beyond my wildest dreams and clearly the first area my weight loss was truly visible.

103 in 5 months *sigh*

Thanks T2 trucker
That's really encouraging. & I already started, what you said will boost my willpower.
Thanks alot

hi, not been around for a while, due to surgery etc. a couple of pounds
(3 -4) heavier due to inactivity, boredom and the ability to eat toast and butter, cheese etc without any of those terrible pains i got before (gallstones). which aint too bad.
anyway unfortunately i have got a little facial sagging after weightloss (as well as in other places). i guess my age 42 and the fact i was obese for a good 10 years played a major role in this.it doesnt particularly bother me. i think it bothers others more. i get "oh your face /you are looking drawn/ too thin etc etc" . the fact is i had a round moon like face with multiple chins before and now ive got cheekbones. people are not used to seeing me like this.
despite a bit of saggy skin/ gallstones etc due to losing weight i wouldnt go back to being like i was this time last year - 90+lbs heavier and morbidly obese.
my advice, lose weight slowly, slap on the moisturiser and enjoy the new you

I honeslty believe the whole face-sagging depends on your age to start with and whether you are male or female. I've NEVER seen a sagging face on any of the men I've known to loose weight. However, after losing only 48 lbs in 1 year, I aged almost 10 years. I have those horrible "jowls" as I call them, and the deep lines along the sides of my mouth. My mother, who is forever the pessimist, says that losing weight was the worst thing I've ever done to myself. ( I disagree.) The same thing happened to my best friend; she used to get carded all the time until she lost the weight. In all honesty, I suppose the fact that I have smoked for the last 15 years didn't help my looks at all. And besides the face drooping, I also no longer have a "booty",my butt's as flat as an ironing board. I went from a 38 D cup bra to a 36 C, and believe me when I tell ya that gravity grabbed hold there, too! So, I lost my "womanly" figure, but for some reason, I never lost the SADDLEBAG thighs...............that bulge on the sides of the thighs..................can anyone tell me how do you get rid of THAT?????:ack2:

Just take a look through all the Before & After Pictures in that forum... that should be enough to show you that the writer's opinion is BS.
