dontcha love when ya type a bunch and then accidently click a link! here i go again (but more condensed)...

of last 10 days
exercise: 4 of 'em on treadmill at 35min/2mi, 10min weights, 5min stretches
activity: yard work, installed fence, boarded/deboarded windows, elevated/lowered furniture (hurricane)
I also started counting calories at a 1500 p/d limitation.

and for today...
hour of tennis, followed by 30min circuit training, ending with 5min stretching. keeping at the 1500cal no prob.

hey there - welcome! and i'm glad to see that you started a journal... it has been one of the things that has really helped me to stick with the plan and accomplish all that I have.

It looks like you are doing great so far! you have a great plan laid out =) It might be good also to write down what you are eating... that was the hardest part for me - figuring out how to use my 1500 cals wisely...

Good luck!

as i read what ive contributed as weight loss interventions, i realize i need to do more! the past 10 days have been so hectic and i have kept so active but on paper it is obviously not enough.

goal: 5 days of cardio 30-45min and 3 days of circuit/strength 30min by next tuesday. i am contemplate keeping 1500 cal or going lower but will hold for now.

eeks. its a hectic schedule coming up! my clinicals are all misconstrued and at times i am doing 2 in one day! but i have got to find away to make this happen!

brighter side...labor and delivery tomorrow evening!

nice work. i bet the work for the hurricane is more exercise than all of us get during a whole week. i'm not sure if you are doing this, but you should also count what kind of calories ... i prefer a 45 / 35 / 20 split of protein / carbs / fat, but that is just a goal ... i'm usually closer to 45 / 40 / 15 ...

I run about the same for the protein/carb/fat. I know the standard says carbs are highest, but I'm not active enough for that! Looks like you've really been busy. Good for you. I know some of it is have to instead of want to, but the fact is you are out there doing it!!

ugh! so right you all are! i need to quit being a lazyloo about it and get specific! duh! it looks right but that doesnt count!

thanks for the heads up and words of encouragement!

It sounds like you are doing great, especially with the exercise! Where do you live to be in Hurricane territory? I'm in central Florida, so we've had it fairly easy this year. Hope all is well with you. Love, Julia

for the above posts:

totallyscrappy: my water intake is generally great...i gave up soda and sweetened juices beverages a few years back. i quickly lost my taste for soda. occasionally i indulge in either sweet tea or ginger ale. most days i only drink water and a bit o' coffee. i prefer not to drink my calories. :)

tallgirl: i am on the west coast (about a mile from the beach)...tiny town just an hour north of where the eye of wilma landed. damage was next to nil. as of saturday night, we were in direct path...but fortunately, things changed by sunday afternoon! been an easy year for us as well...last year Charley hit and flattened an area just minutes away yet, we were fortunate then as well. season is almost over...cant wait for the relief!

i started yesterday off with a vengance. goal to count to the "T" everything that passed my lips...i even exercised in the morning to prepare for evening clinicals not allowing my typical evening exercise routine. i hate to do vigorous routines in the morning (makes me feel old and creeky). i am a night owl...and peak around 7pm which is usually when i hit exercising and soar!

exercise: 2.65mi/45min treadmill w. last 10min incorporating resistance/theraband exercises. ended w. 10min stretching.

i had my food intake down until i headed out for clinicals and failed to eat for more than 8 hours! i planned to have a snack bar break mid-point but never got that opportunity and once i did, i decided i would eat dinner soon enough...which was 2 more hours. by the time i returned home my head was pounding and i felt awful. i had 900 calories to spend...so no worries about nearing (let alone going over) my goal caloric intake. i will be more careful next time!

brighter side: my first labor and delivery experience was a success! my shift started right as a mom dilated 10cm and delivered within 2 hours!

hey tis, as a fellow newbie let me say hello and good job on the weight you've already lost! your plan sounds great, you'll lose the weight before you know it. take care, and i'll be checking back with you. bye for now :D !

quick update before bed! couple days ago i discovered i had lost 5lbs in the first two weeks! :D

saturday, i reluctantly did my circuit/strength training for 30-45min and 10min stretching.

sunday, again reluctantly did my cardio 2+mi/35min treadmill and 10min stretching. it wasnt easy to get those muscles going! after, walking and squatting at the beach coupla hours today...eeks...my thighs and shins were screamers! plus i was sore from yesterdays circuit! a rarity so, i know it was a good workout!

both days i MADE myself exercise and had a fab time once i got started. and am making such progress in my running on the treadmill!

i slacked on actual act of counting calories. i can give my excuses but it is silly too. regardless, i ate well and am sure i kept it between the lines. i just literally slacked on the math aspect. :(

this must be a quickie so that i get to school work...

i am lacking on proper diet intake...caloric intake is fine but i am compromising by lunch time for bad foods. gotta get back to my previous two weeks of doing well! i think i gained a lb back but the scale was kinda wacko.

today's exercise:
2mi/30min on treadmill. 30min circuit. 10min stretch.
i have seen such a quick increase in ability! strength and cardio! i set goals each routine and work hard to meet it. keeps me entertained during workout.

hey tis'. you are doing so well!! keep it up. i can't believe how much time you work out with all that you have to do. such inspiration i need to get my butt up again and get to the gym. i'm stuck in a rut right now and i have tons of work, as you know. i look forward to seeing you reach your goals.

hey there teammate! isn't exercise great! sounds like your doing really well with that. i'm sure you can get back on track with your eating habits too. good luck, and see you in the challenge :D !

Hey Tis!

Seen you on my diary and wanted to offer the same support to you!

I'm counting calories too and wondered if you had a book or something with foods and their calories in them? I could do with a little pocket book to take with me xx

hey amd, i know it is difficult to work in exercise with all the school work and life stuff in your planner! remember, every active activity can be exercise. park farther away from class. ya know, it adds up.

hey heidi, you are such a great cheerleader for our team! both of you are really great mates!

hi bride, i dont have a book tho, it is a great idea for on the run. that might get me back to being more exact. i bet we could find one easy enough at a book store...likely even walmart.

thanks to all of you for your support! :D

update...yesterday i played tennis for one hour. quite the workout. my husband keeps me on my toes and my return has to be powerful. it makes for great exercise and incredible fun! i leave hobbling but wanting more.

today i took the day off...evening clinicals do me in when it comes to exercise. but i will trade today for my norm day off tomorrow.

still bumming about not counting calories. i have made very smart food choices. truly, i am doing well but am disappointed when the last two nights i have had "real" deserts. had company night before last and desert was snuck in. tonight was a catered, workship with incredible cookies. i indulge in a responsible manner but indulging is bad enough!

nonetheless, it seems i have lost the 1lb i gained.

don't worry too much about the desserts - anything is ok in moderation. if you know you'll be having dessert at night, skip the afternoon snack, or workout an extra 15-20 mins. it's ok to treat yourself sometimes, as long as you make smart choices most of the time.
not everyone needs to count cals. for example, my mom is 56 years old and has maintained a thin weight for the past 30 years without ever dieting or counting cals. she exercises daily and eats dessert almost every night. she is my role model in dieting and life and someday i hope to be able to eat and exercise the way she does. i think if you can lose weight w/o counting cals you are actually better off, b/c you can judge portion sizes and know when to stop eating naturally. i've been measuring food and counting cals for so long that now i get nervous about eating something when i don't know how many cals it has. kinda sucks.
good job on that pound lost! one more for the team :D . take care and have a great day tomorrow!

hi t'is,
sounds like you're doing really well. keep it up. and WOW you're able to lose weight without counting calories?? oh, how i wish i could do that!! i envy you  ok ok, i'll be nice :D hope you have another wonderful day tomorrow and don't worry about endulging once in awhile.

hi ya'll!

heidi, whats your mom's secret?! great job to her!! thanks for the advice and right you are! made me feel lots bettah! :D

amnd, thanks for the kind words! i am trying so hard...and am doing it! finally!! :D we all are!

today i played tennis for 30min til the night chased me away. came home to do strength circuit and stretching as usual.

i am visibly showing the reward of my hard work! people are noticing, pants are slipping off of me. damn, if it isnt my fave pair of jeans first to go! quite worth it though! still too soon to buy new ones as it is only a minute change at this point.
