I am 15, 159 pounds, and 5'4"
I am looking to lose weight. I am over weight. I walk for 30 minutes everyday and I am not sure if this is enough to lose weight or not. is it?
I also eat healthier things and cut back on portions. I was 165 pounds and I am down to 159 pounds now. I would like tips on different workouts I could try, or a workout that worked for you. I would also like some simple meal tips. Healthy things that are simple and easy for me to make. I don't have a lot of ideas right now. Tips, workout ideas, and motivation would be highly appreciated. :)

Welcome to the forum. Walking 30 minutes a day is really good, but you might try walking/jogging. Jog for as much as you can without overdoing it but still adding intensity to the workout and return to walking until you feel as though you can continue jogging. If you don't think you are ready to jog, try walking as briskly as you can at first until you can move up to jogging. You will steadily improve and pounds will melt off. Also you can get the benefit of "the runners high".

Also, you might want to add a little anaerobic exercise as well (lifting weights and such). Don't worry, you won't bulk up like a body builder with some mild strength training but the more muscle your body has the more it can burn.

Good luck and hope to see you soon reporting some good news. :)

Hay, I'm 14. I weighed 140, witch was not bad, but I wanted to be 130 or 120 like I was before some things that happened in the family. Walking for half an hour a day will help! Trust me! I didn't change how I ate, I still ate like a pig and just bike riding for 20 mins a day got me to 130, it took some healthy eating habit changes to get to 120. So over time, as long as you like walking and do it 6 days a week I'm sure you'll loose weight. It will also help a lot if you eat a apple a day no kidding!! Think about what kind of diet you want, I like having a high fiber diet. It helps with my stomach issues. Don forget to stay hydrated. Dehydration can slow down your motablsuim (sorry, can't spell) by 10% witch is a lot! So, I would recommend more time but it depends on what you can fit into your schedule. I sometimes go on hour long walks, I say that as long as your heart rate is up and it's longer than 15 mins that's good. Just keep it up! You'll loose weight, and build up nice leg muscles ;)

thanks for the help! i definitely will walk for an hour starting sometime soon, and i think i might alternate between days of walking for an hour and walking/jogging for 30 minutes. ill see what i am capable of. I know I can walk for an hour, and I can do the jogging, but my major problem is not having anywhere to walk to, or getting bored with walking the same route everyday, so I am also trying to find new places for me to walk so I won't get bored.

Yea I used to do all my walking/jogging on a treadmill. 30 minutes felt like an eternity. But, I switched to walking outside around the neighborhood and it wasn't as boring. Do you listen to music while you walk? That helps with the boredom. Do you live near a lake? Walking around a lake is nice as well.
