I actually found this site last year when I made a half hearted attempt to lose weight. It didn't last long. The weight has crept up on me over the years and I did not realize how big I had gotten. :eek2:

I grew comfortable looking in the mirror, only I wasn't seeing what everyone else was seeing, until I saw myself in a photo. Then it hit home. Wow... I have got about 50 lbs to lose.

I am 5'1, and I guess large framed. I have weighed 120 lbs before, but at that weight everyone told me that I was sickly and too thin. So, I guess I'd like to weigh about 135ish. That would be ideal for me.

I'm going to start a diary and keep track of everything. I'm very serious this time. I've already been working out for a week, so I'm getting used to this being a regular thing everyday. My husband is working out with me and is pushing me, and that's a good thing. :D

welcome back - and good luck in getting to where you want to be :)

Starting somewhere is a great place to start -and pace yourself - you will get to where you want to be :)

Great that you want to restart losing weight! To bad that your last try didn't last very long. But I know how difficult it is to lose weight. I have tried so many diets during the last years, but nothing really worked. After a few days I usually gave up. So I really look forward to reading your diary! Maybe this could even motivate myself to start a new diet and a new workout program too! So how are you going to start? Are you going to do lots of sports or are you just changing your nourishment?

Jane,

My biggest concern is to cut out the pop. I was drinking 4-6+ cans of pop a day. Food isn't the problem. I don't even think I overeat. I'm not a big sweet eater at all. In fact, I could go weeks without eating any sweets and not even think about it. I'm going to see what happens cutting down to 2 pops a day, ( eventually to wean myself off it entirely) and working out for 45 min a day. I'm drinking Crystal light most of the day. I have been drinking about 2 quarts of it per day.

If I don't see any weight coming off within 3 weeks, I will see about adjusting what I eat.

Good luck to you!

Welcome to the forum time2change!

It certainly is time to change. I hope that you find help here to guarantee your success. Never, ever give up!

Time2change,
it was really interesting to read your first diary entries. It seems like you are really on the best way to reach your aim to lose weight this time!
I can imagine that cutting down two pops a day must be very hard for you. I just love cookies and for me this will be the big problem. But I'll do my very best and cut the consumption down as well.
So what do you usually eat in the evening then? I have heard that you shouldn't it too many carbs before sleeping. That means no more snacks while watching tv at night :-(
I think it's normal that you don't see any weight coming off during the first weeks. You shouldn't worry about it. But maybe you are already able to see some improvement concerning your body and your enduringness.

Thanks, guys for your support. :)

Pop has been a huge part of my life for the past 20 yrs! I know a lot of people who have to have that coffee...I never did like coffee, so it was pop for me. And boy, could I drink the pop! I remember back when my husband was in the military and he got orders for Germany. I was told they didn't sell Mt. Dew over there, and that almost stopped me from going! How bad is that! I was able to get Mt. Dew in the commissary, but they didn't sell it on the economy. Can you believe that was almost a deal breaker? Can you say addiction?

I hope you can work out your cookie addiction. It sure is hard stopping something you love.

I'm going to look for your journal later on. Thanks for reading mine. :)

Hi Time2Change

people who really need coffee...oh yeah it really seems like you are talking about me :) But I think coffee has the same negative influence if you want to lose some weight. Nevertheless I don't think that I can live without it, but I will try to drink less like you and your Mt. Dew!
Yesterday I did some jogging for 25 minutes. Gosh that was the first time after so many years. I was so exhausted afterwards, but it was a really good feeling. I was like a step into the right direction!

Hi @all!
I'm very proud of all of you because you already restarted losing weight! I will have another try soon as well. My last try unfortunately didn't last long and brought me more pounds than those I've lost... I really ain't happy about it and so I'm willing to have another try!
By the way... I love Dew as well and it'll be quite a hard part to get rid of this passion... but I know I have to! Good luck to all of you and read you later ;)
