Time to shed those pounds

Hello all. Now with that out of the way, lets get to business. I've gotten tired of seeing pictures of myself 5 years ago when the Air Force thought I was getting a little heavy and wondering who that skinny guy was. I left the service in 2001 (right before 911) at 180. Because I didn't have a liscense I walked everywhere I went and quickly put on 20lbs of leg muscle. So by mid 2002 I was 200lbs. Since then I've been slowing adding more belly and butt weight and am up to 225. I've decided its time to shed the pounds. Right now I work the graveyard shift and that offers me plenty of time to walk the pounds off. I'm thinking of cutting down to 1,200 cal/day and 1,000-1,500 cal of excersie to my daily routine of 1,700 cal burn. I plan on doing alot of walking with crunches and push ups added in to try to get my strength back up. Any thoughts?

You can do it!

I think it sounds like a great plan. Cardio, crunches, and sit ups have worked in the past for me. It's hard to make these changes in our lifestyle, but I just think about the reward in the end! :)
