Thyroid?

So I used a calculator online to figure out my BMR the other day, but then it hit me. I'm hypothyroid, ie my thyroid gland doesn't produce enough hormone. My metabolism is naturally slower than that of another person. I'm on medication to correct it, but it's sort of touch and go (anyone else with thyroid problems will tell you correcting with medication's pretty tough to get right)

My question is how does having a thyroid problem effect my BMR? Should I take it into consideration and drop the number a little? Info would be appreciated :)

Yes, you should drop it a bit. Nobody is going to be able to tell you how much though.

Your best bet is to track how many calories you've been eating. Figure out an average daily total. From this, track your weight. If your weight has been maintaining, it's safe to assume you are eating at maintenance and you can "cut" from this point in order to lose weight.

Hmm, I've been losing, but I cut back a lot from where I was during the school year and never really paid much attention to how much... I'll get on it. Thanks :)
