Thyroid Anyone?

HI!
I'm a single mother of a 15 yr. and still saying(to myself) that I have to get rid of my baby fat.
I'm 41 yrs old and need to loose approx. 50 lbs. My co-worker challenged my to a weight-off contest. $50.00 goes to the person who looses the most weight by Feb. What was I thinking? When we got on the scale to document our starting weight I was totally(TOTALLY!!!) amazed at how much I weighed. 203 lbs. I was in denial at how much I have gained in the last year. On average loosing weight is harder for me,I had a total thyroidectomy 14 yrs ago. It's a constant battle I fight. Three years ago I started doing exercise tapes(love them) and eating better and lost weight. I went from a tight size 16(which is actually a size 18) to a 12. I guess because of the exercise I had a very compact body(slightly muscular),even now my co-worker was shocked that I weighed so much. I need to buy new clothes in a larger size(believe it or not I'm still squeezing into my 12's).

Hi Tharriet, I also have a thyroid condition (hypothyroidism). Losing weight seems to be a bit harder when dealing with thyroid issues. In the past I could probably drop 10 pounds per month with exercise and dieting and now it can take almost twice as long to lose the same amount, but I've found that exercising really helps a lot.

Welcome to the forum and good luck with the weight-off contest! :D
