Hi, I'm 27 years old. I have always been skinny until I had my daughter my second child. I went to the doctors because I was having some huge problems with my menstrual cycle. Anyway I was diagnosised with pcos and thyroid conditions. I really want to lose all the weight I have gained since then. I'm 5ft 175lbs. Has any one ever lost that much weight with both these problems stacked against them. I'm starting today. My goal is to get to 120 lbs would be thankful for 140. I know the goal is to burn more calories then you consume but im always hungry.

If you're always hungry try upping the "volume" of food you eat. I'm a volume eater and eat a ton of veggies. It helps fill you up and doesn't have a lot of calories. Try sauteing some broccoli, peppers, yellow squash, and/or any veggies you like in a little bit of teriyaki sauce. It's so yummy and very low on the calories.

I really hate it, but i eat 2 carrots for breakfast most days. Its like my little 'secret'. It totally makes me full and feel great, and seems to curb my eating for hours. Then i snack on fruit or veg until dinner. I can usually total 500-700 calories for a day living almost entirely on vegetables and fruit being totally full, then i have a 'normal' (read: low fat higher protein decent portion) dinner.
If im doing workouts in the morning or lunch time ill have a couple of pottles of low fat yoghurt for the extra protein

Hi! You asked if anyone had lost weight with pcos and thyroid issues, well I have!

I've lost 47lbs, I've had pcos and thyroid problems for about three years now.

If you need any info or help, let me know, but it CAN be done, trust me :)

Stay positive!

Chances are, you're not balancing your carbohydrates well enough or you're eating too many refined carbs or possibly too many whole carbs too.

If you have PCOS, you may also have insulin resistance and you need to make sure your meals are high in fiber and high in protein. In other words, lots of vegetables (not starch vegetables like potatoes) and lean proteins.

When I started adjusting my diet to look at the percentage of carbs, protein and fats that I was consuming, I started to understand what ratios worked for me. On days when I was eating too many carbs and not enough fiber, I would be hungrier. If I ate a lot of fiber, I wouldn't feel as hungry. If I ate a lot of protein, then I would feel fuller, less carbs made me feel better.

You may need to play around with your food to figure out what combinations work for you.

Good luck. I don't have thyroid problems, but I do have PCOS.

You don't have to eat so little to reduce weight.

Why not change another eating habit? Like breaking down your 3 meals into 5 - 6 little meal per day.

Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack

Reduce the quantity for each meal, so you don't have to feel hungry.

I think you need to do exercise to reduce the excessive weight. Its better that if you have control on food or if you feel so hungry then you should eat fruit and salad not junk food because this is very important that you need to be control on your diet.
