For the last 5 years or so I've weighed right at 300 lbs. In March I just got fed up with it. I had tried every "THE" diet out there and all failed, so I just took a suggestion from my doctor who said " burn more than you take in and you'll lose weight". So that's what I did. I searched the net to find out how many calories I need to maintain ( 12 x your weight) and how many to cut ( 500 daily = 1 lb. week). I like to cook so I looked for healthy recipes, cut the fat and sugar and bumped up the fiber, ate carbs in the morning and protien in the evening and today, 11/08/2007, I weigh 225 lbs. I had gotten down to 222 but gained a couple when my doctor took me off my blood pressure meds ( had been taking them for over 10 years). I've even taken up whitewater kayaking. I feel great. but..... I'm still eating less than I need to maintain, but I seem to be stuck at the 225 for the last 2 or 3 weeks. This is close to what I weighed in my early 40's and I'm 58 now. If it's a plateau, it's my first one on this diet. I'm just wondering if I've reached my "set weight"? Is there such a thing? I'm not unhappy where I'm at, but would like to get closer to 200 ( I'm 6'2) and my BMI is still around 23. Any ideas?
