Threads Marked as read when they're not?

This happens to me ALL THE TIME. I won't even go into topics or threads and they will all be marked as read and the bold face goes away. I never know which ones I have read or not. Why is that happening?

not sure, but if you think you have missed something, you can go to "quick links" and scroll down to "todays posts" and it will bring all the posts made in the last 24 hours.....
 
Would it have anything to do with the cookies or it is tracked by actual login? I have had problems when trolling the forums during the day at work and then trolling again at night, some say I didn't read them when I know that I did...or as another poster said, I was the last post.
 
I always look for new posts. Sometimes I miss a whole thread and have it show up the next day as new....and I've been missing out on the fun.

It's done using cookies. If you have your browsing set up so that cookies aren't recorded or are deleted when you close the browser then threads you've viewed will be marked as unread.

So people like Karky who have threads marked as unread after they've been read might have high security regarding cookies or has the computer set to delete them frequently (a good idea if you look at as much porn as he does)

Not sure....

WHat I have noticed is, if you go into your user panel, and don't look thru *all* the posts that are on there and come back, they will have been marked read.

If you come into the forum, and you look thru the "new posts" and again don't go thru them all on your first look, they will be marked as read.

So you may be missing some that way.

I have noticed when I do clear my cookies, and come back after logging out, I will get some threads I didn't see or missed the first time around sometimes....
 
I've had similar problems and since vB is a very big program, I have no idea where this problem would be occurring. But, since there is a new vB 4 ready to be released anytime now, we're not going to worry about these things right now.
