Eat a decent balance reducing a small amount at a time to be sure you don't go to far. Train sensibly at stuff you enjoy. Be patient.
I have often recomended what I call the 10% diet, eat 10% less all round do 10% more than you do now. This is safe and gets you started. Once you are used to the changes do it again until you are close to goal size, then gradually increase intake to a level that maintains your body weight.
The crazy part is doing this will tend to make you change your diet automatically as the body starts craving what it needs rather than ruling you via taste buds. There are more complex and effective plans but this one is simple and safe for total beginners. If you are not a total beginner and want something more direct let us know what you can and can't do, like and loath, and of course what you ideally want to be.
