Sport This doesn't seem right... 485 calories?

Sport Fitness
Ok, here's what I've eaten so far today...

Meal 1- 1 banana, 2 poptarts (Opps)
Meal 2- 1 Can pineapples (put in the oven to bake) 1 cucumber with light Italian dressing

I added up all the calories and it comes to 485. That seems a bit high for just the first part of my day. I'm on a 1200 calorie limit right now, so that's just about a 1/3 of my diet.

Oh, also.. how long do you think it will take to lose 10 lbs? With a limited diet of 1200 and running? Oh, im also 127 lbs

THE best way to lose weight?

ENJOY LIFE! You are 15 yrs old you should not be on a fitness forum you should be out and about running around and enjoying yourself. The worst thing you can be doing is stressing about it.

Molly that's because everything you're eating, with the exception of the cucumber and the dressing, is packed with sugar (okay, fructose in the fruit, but it amounts to the same thing in terms of calories). Bananas and Pineapple are two of the highest sugar content fruits. Poptarts are sugar coated sugar cake. I suspect your calorie estimate is actually lower than what it is in actuality. I'm not trying to discourage you, simply pointing out that a healthy weight loss diet will be easier to manage over the long run, and lower in calories if you stick to clean foods and not highly processed choices.

The timeframe for weight loss varies for everyone. Everyone wonders how long. But does it really matter? Make the choice to get it done however long it takes. I'd estimate about two to three months if you're consistent and take a healthy approach. You could easily drop the weight faster but at your age that would not be a good idea. I mean that, take it slow there's no rush, and 3 months is a blink in your life story. Generally, the slower you lose the weight the healthier and more sustainable your results.

I recommend upping your calories, and varying them..there's a simple cycling technique a lot of people overlook in weight loss. Vary your calorie intake, but keep it the same on average. For example, on 1200 calories, eat 1400 one day and 1000 the next..I find it helps to keep your body from going into fat hoarding mode :)

485 calories sounds just right for that food. Why are you limited to 1200 calories? That's VERY low. There are few people who that is actually a healthy calorie level for. And you run, so your body needs extra.
If you really want to lose that weight and keep it off you need to take a healthy appraoch. If you take an unhealthy approach, such as eating low calorie, crappy food diet, your body is not going to react in a positive way. And even if the weight does come off, guess what? It's going to come back.
You have a lot of years ahead of you, and destroying your body now does not bode well for your future. A diet of healthy, wholesome foods with a slight calorie deficit every day will help you slowly lose fat, and it will stay off. Your body can stay healthy and energetic for your runs.
And the calorie cycling mentioned above is a good point. Your metabolism is probably already in rough shape. Calorie cycling can help you lose fat and rebuild your metabolism.
I hope you'll take us all seriously here. We don't want to see you hurting yourself.

What should I be eating?

ok thanks,

Would you mind telling me what I should be eating? 'Cause I thought i was eating healthy things already, but I guess not.

I eat lots of fruits and vegetables, and that's mostly it.

At school I eat a salad, but I would really appriciate if you could show me in the right direction of what I should be eating.

well fruits and vegetables are great, but it's not really healthy to cut out any food groups. a combination of whole grains, lean meats, good fats, dairy and veggies and fruits will help younlose weight. make sure you dont eat big meals, but eat about six of them a day about 3 hours apart. does this help you any???
