this contains cutting? is there ever "too much protein?"

I'm working on cutting right now. So what should my protein intake be? im 190 llbs. So should I eat a strict 190 g a day, or can i eat 200-220 g or should my intake be lower than 190 g? thanks!

If when you say cutting you mean you don't want to bulk more but look defined or "cut" then you shouldn't worry about protein so much. I can't determine your necessary protein intake without examining you but i know it should be less then when you are bulking up. To get the cut look you need to lower your body fat percentage. I recommend cardio, eating healthier (less fat, cholesterol, bad carbs, etc.) most importantly continue with your workouts. Do higher reps in each set, that means around 15. Don't expect to move up in weight much too. Your muscles will show when the fat goes down, and maintaining your muscles while you lose fat is necesary.

i disagree about the protein. some say protein is even more important when cutting than bulking.

IMO, keeping your protein intake constant along with continuing to hit the weights hard helps to maintain as much strenght and lean bodyweight as possible. :)

surprisingly I've gone up in weight yet my stomach is smaller. I think its because of what abear's method: high protein, lower carbs and fat. Leandrofu, eating healthier has also helped a lot. My diet is has nothing bad in it. But to keep body fat down, I think I would have to increase protein intake, and keep the carbs and fat low, unlike bulking where I can have more fat and carbs. I need to make up for the loss of fat and carbs using protein. I havent done any cardio either (except a few games in basketball) but that was awhile ago.

Well, most sources of protein that i looked at had lots of carbs. Anyways, I'm leaving for the air force tomorrow, and won't be using the internet for a while. I'll be gone til 2009 going through the academy in Colorado Springs, CD. Goodluck.

Keep your protien at 190g and start using the same weights, don't increase poundages. Do lotsa cardio, and keep your carb and fat intake low.
I have no problems cutting, bulking is alittle difficult for me. I'm learning though

wow!! hey man, best of luck to you!!

Leandrofu, is wrong, you can keep protein intake high. Keep protein intake the same as if bulking to reduce loss in muscle mass, and with the weight workouts, u dont higher the reps, keep lifting heavy and hard with low reps. Rest is just cardio and diet.

You dont have problems cutting pan because even if you ate fatty foods, ur high metabolism would keep you slim.

wolverine i think youll find much better results if your eating healthy AND doing some good amounts of cardio, especially when you wake up.
