Let's hope this tour ends well! This is my first entry, with the answers to the questions. I'm hoping this will turn into the support group. I'm ready to change the rest of my life for the better. Thanks in advance for the support (both mental and posted)! I look forward to getting to know all of you a little better!

1. What is your current height and weight?
6’0—340 lbs

2. If you were at an ideal weight now, what would that weight be?
About 190-200. I think that’s really healthy for my height.

3. At what weight would you like to be at four months from now?
About 300.

4. Why do you want to lose weight?
My entire life I’ve been fat. I grew up with a brother and a ton of cousins, and I can remember being about 5 and having my grandparents and aunts around talking about what to “do with my weight.” I just want to be happy and confident—and walk with my head a little higher. I also think it will help me professionally.

5. Do you want to lose weight for a specific life event such as wedding or reunion? If so, when is that event? No.

6. What obstacles could get between you and your weight loss goals?
My confidence. People could tell me I’m beautiful until they are blue in the face and I won’t believe them. I am too embarrassed to work out because I’m afraid of people judging me.

7. Why do you think that you now have a weight problem?
I’m lonely and I’ve had my entire life filled with food rewards. I’m down a lot.

8. What lifestyle changes do you think would help you lose weight? Exercising, eating healthier, motivation.

9. Have you lost weight in the past? If so, what has worked in the past to help you lose weight? Yes, I lost about 70 pounds on weight watchers and it took me about 7 years to gain it back. Disappointing because I went to college and gained it back, but I know it works like a charm.

10. Why do you believe that you did not lose weight or you gained the weight back? I was lazy, broke, and didn’t attend meetings.

11. What, if anything, has not worked for you in the past in helping you to lose weight? Why do you think it did not work? Doing it alone! I need support, however I may get it.

12. Would you try writing down all food and drink consumed for a given period of time? Yes, absolutely. I think it helps me more than anything.

13. Do you cook at home often? If so, what do you cook? I try to cook at home, but I realize that it’s very hard to cook for one, and often I wind up eating a portion for four people all by myself. I have a difficult time throwing food out and I’m not a big leftover fan. I usually cook because it’s my budget. Advice there would be nice!

14. How often do you go out to eat? Where do you go? Several times a week. I usually hit whatever during lunch at work, and meet friends on the weekends. Fast food, but sometimes I will eat the “healthier” fast food. I do love Panera Bread’s salmon salad—healthy and delicious!

15. What are your three favorite foods? Bananas, cheese, and green beans. Look, two good ones!

16. What are your three favorite restaurants? Chili’s—and that’s about it on favorites.

17. What are three things you can do differently when it comes to food? Think about what I’m eating, cut down on portions, cook amazing meals!

18. If you woke up tomorrow and your body was exactly the way you want it, what would be different? I would walk with my head higher and respect myself more. I would also look in the mirror without calling myself ugly names.

19. Do you eat when you are not hungry? Of course I do! It’s usually because something is really good or really bad.

20. Do you binge eat (large amounts at a time)? Yes. Years ago I would have said no way, but it’s evident now.

21. Do you hide your food or eat in secret? Used to not to, now I notice that I do.

22. Do you eat when you are sad, nervous, or depressed? Yes.

23. Do you eat as a reward? Yes. Usually it’s ice cream. I love ice cream.

24. Do you eat while watching TV or using the computer? Yes.

25. What do you normally eat for a meal? I usually have a balance of protein and veggies, but eating a huge chicken breast with veggies covered in cheese doesn’t help.

26. What type of snacks do you eat? Salty, processed ones. Lately, I have been snacking on oranges and apples (my beloved banana is for breakfast!).
27. In terms of exercise, what, if anything, are you currently doing? Big fat nothing there. Terrified to even walk around my complex!

28. Where do you go for exercise? A local public gym? School/work gym? Home? I have a YMCA membership.

29. What, if anything, are your three favorite types of exercise? I like the elliptical machine when I do it. I also enjoy weight lifting.

30. What is your daily/weekly/monthly/yearly motivation to move towards your goals? Write down what I eat, find a support group, and work out if at all possible. Keep my head up and my support group strong.

31. Do you have rewards for certain goals? I feel like I should reward myself along the way, but I have nothing lined out. My reward for goal weight (190) is a trip to Egypt, or a trip to Europe.

15. What are your three favorite foods? Bananas, cheese, and green beans. Look, two good ones!
I'm assuming you're considering cheese a bad food - it's really not -and should be enjoyed - using the magic words - inmoderation.. I will never give up cheese... it's something i love -a nd I like the good cheeses too -not the waxy processed low fat and fat free varieties - and its OK -- I just watch the portion sizes....

Just remember to take it one day at a time and you will get to where you want to be.

Might I also suggest you taking measurements - they are generally far more telling about progress than the scale is...

Enjoy your stay - have run - read around the forum a bunch and do ask questions
