The start of my journey...

Hey everyone! My name is Alex and I'm probably the youngest person on this forum. I stumbled upon this site recently & I love it! I love hearing about people reaching their goals, it's inspiring. Okay, let's start with my background:

A. Male; 13 years old
B. I'm about 5 3'' to 5 4''
C. I weigh 154 pounds :nopity:

3 weeks ago I decided to change my eating habits. I haven't eaten junk food since. I try to exercise 5-6 days a week (taking a break on sundays). I jog for at least 3 miles a day and I do some yoga (I've really seen an improvement in my posture). I really want to lose at least 15-20 pounds by July. My motivation: my (very fit) best friend who is getting a pool soon, he invited me over & I want to look good. I don't have a HUGE body but I do have a kind of big butt (lol), there's also some fat around my legs. I don't have large "man boobs" either. In fact, you can hardly see them. I know you can't target weight loss but if I keep exercising and eating healthy do you think I will lose my embarrassing behind? I want to be able to go out and not worry about people staring (I have a low self esteem.) I'm really new to this and any help would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I'll post some pics soon! Oh, and I'm terribly sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Hello Alex,

What are you saying?! Is better if you say "I have a high self-esteem!". Your current weight can make you feel uncomfortable. But, there are solutions! So since you're very young my only recommendation would be to keep the eat healthier, but exercise more. Try to jog for at least 3 or 4 days per week. 30 min would be enough.

Have a great day!
Rick

:waving:Welcome aboard, buddy! I think your goal is reasonable, to lose 15-20 pounds. At your height, I sure don't think you'd need to lose anymore!

As for where you carry your weight, sorry to say that's likely genetics. If you look in your family tree, you're bound to see others who carry their weight there! However, as you lose, you should become smaller all over, including the part you aren't too fond of. And I can relate - because that is EXACTLY where I carry my weight, too! :banghead:

Good job on ditching the junk food and getting in daily exercise! I also like it that you are taking Sundays off :Angel_anim: for a little R&R.

Best wishes on your journey:auto:

Thanks for the replies^-^

I have one question, how many calories should i be eating a day. I eat 3 light meals a day.

Breakfast: Cheerios or Special K with low fat milk & maybe a grapefruit. If I feel thirsty i have a little orange juice.
Lunch: Turkey sandwich: whole wheat bread lettuce and tomato and a tiny bit of pepper
(-exercise period-)
Dinner: Chicken/lean meats (baked) or a salad with a bit of Italian dressing.

I think that adds up to about 1,200 calories, I'm not sure..I might start a journal soon.
If I feel a little hungry I have a granola bar as a snack. I don't really get tempted to eat fatty foods anymore (thank goodness). Lol

Also, is it better to work out in the morning?

I appreciate the replies :)
