The scale just keeps going up

Hi guys,

I just recently found out about this wonderful forum and this is my first post.

So my question basically is: why has my weight gone up in the past two days after one week of decline? (bellow I am just giving an explanation of the circumstances)

I'm 1m 78cm or 5 feet 10 inches tall. Right now I weigh 78 kilograms or 172 pounds. I am eating pretty much normal food, but I am eating less now while on diet. My daily intake is about 1700 Cal and I workout every day for about an hour. I weigh myself every day in the morning.

I have started my weight-loss diet at the start of the previous week and I have already had some amazing downs, but my weight has gone up in the last two days and I haven't changed anything about my diet.

Today: 78 kg

I am sorry that this post has become so long. Thank you for any help and advice you can give me.

I wish you all to reach the weight and bodies that you want.

Hope you have a nice day,
Martin

Weight loss is never linear, also remember the first week will usually see a larger loss than following weeks.

Hormones, the type of foods you have recently eaten, water intake etc all have an effect on weight fluctuations, so without more information it is hart to give anything except generic answers. https://weight-loss.fitness.com/threads/information-needed-when-asking-for-help.89399/

Remember weight can be changed by changing ALL areas of your health.

This requires TOTAL knowledge of holistic health , and then action

You need to have all the tools possible to change your health. Especially if weight is a problem for your body.

Goodluck!!!!!!!!

It would be useful to make a chart showing your weight change week-to-week rather than daily. Water weight fluctuates constantly. Men should use a 14-day cycle approach and women should use a 28-day cycle approach. This means that at the end of each cycle you should record your weight at the same time of day as the cycle before and compare those results. That will tell you whether you are actually gaining, losing or plateauing.

Weighing yourself daily can be useful though because it keeps your weightloss in mind and on track. It will give you a general picture but if the change is under 2kg I would not worry because always account 2kg as water weight.

Hey there,

Losing weight is a real challenge with today’s lifestyle (which specifically includes sitting jobs and long working hours). In fact I myself have struggled years with this but today I am here for my wife who had miscarriage few months back and after that she is constantly gaining weight. She cannot follow a particular diet routine and the exercises she dose only help her get stable but not lose. She is getting really obnoxious about that.

The hormones after a failed pregnancy have a huge effect on the body even months after the event, and that is without taking into consideration the emotional trauma of a failed pregnancy. Your wife needs to give herself time.

having said that, while exercise is needed for good health it is not going to be the prime solution for loosing fat, Diet is the primary method for fat loss, you cannot exercise away a poor diet.

Thank you for your idea Trusylver. I also tried taking to my wife about following a particular diet but for now she doesn’t feel like following any kind of diet but promised me to eat healthy food in moderated quantity only. Maybe that is good enough for a start.
