The Pill - How much affect does it have on weightloss?

Hey Everyone.

I was just wondering, for anyone who has been on the pill, is on the pill, knows about the pill, is a doctor......lol. How much affect does it have on weight loss? About a year ago, I got a personal trainer and started working out and trying to eat healthier, and I must admit I never really got all of the my diet under control, but I still felt like I was working pretty hard, and I would have my bad days and my good days, over this summer I had a pretty big down, but have been back into it SERIOUSLY for like the past 3 weeks, my workouts are pretty intense, weights, swimming, basketball etc. And I am basically still where I was last year, and maybe even a little bit heavier. I am on the pill, I have been on it for about 5 years now because I was getting really sick from TTOM, and never thought it affected me terribly.

But I feel almost ripped off, because I feel like I work SO hard compared to friends and family etc, yet the results NEVER show. On the scales, or with the tape measure. I don't know what to do. Am I looking for excuses? Or is it really affecting me shifting weight? Please help. Thanks

Nicola xx

I've been on the pill for the last 5+ years. It has a different effect on every woman, and varies by brand. I would think that any weight gain would happen initally, after going on the pill for the first time, or with switching brands/method of contraceptive. If you've been on the same brand for 5 years, I wouldn't think it would be affecting your weight-loss efforts. It would have, if anything, caused an increase in weight intially, I wouldn't think it would have extra effects on you now. I'm not a doctor, however, and if this method of birth control is discouraging you I would suggest you talk to your doctor about additional options.
