The perfect excuse: I'm missing a muscle

To anyone out there who is stronger than me: it's just because I'm missing a muscle.
To anyone out there who is weaker than me: wow, I'm stronger even with one less muscle than you.

I'm missing my palmaris longus on my right forearm (or at least I'm pretty sure I am). according to wikipedia, 16% of caucasian people are missing this muscle.

You know when you flex your wrist you can see two tendons popping up very noticabely on the bottom part of the forearm?.. well, on my right arm I've always just had one tendon pop up, turns out, the tendon I'm missing is the tendon that should go to the palmaris longus, which leads me to believe that I'm on the people on this planet missing that muscle (at least on the right arm)
I always wondered why there were two tendons on my left and one on my right arm.. I guess now I know :D it's kinda cool :D

That's VERY cool. I love people with flaws :) It adds to their charm.

Karks, I think you're focussing too much on your arm when you're rubbing one out ...

I'm missing my brain. Does that count?

I agree. Close your eyes next time. It helps with the imagination process.

My dad has it too; it's probably genetic. I think there are more variations in the anatomy of humans, specially with muscles, than we think.

like what?

2 gall bladders
2 hepatic arteries
extra lobe on my liver
3 kidneys
my cardiovascular system is backwards to what it should be

Unfortunately, I can't show pics of that :(

As for external physiological anomalies, I don't have any. Other than my head :D

i'd like to see a backwards cardiovascular system.

i only have 1 visible tendon on the underside of my forearms...

maybe you're lacking it too. Or perhaps a missing tendon doesn't mean the muscle is lacking, maybe on some people the tendon just isn't as superficial as on others.. who knows.. but if it is, that would mean that the tendon takes a different path to get to its attachment spot, which I doubt is possible..

it appears that the lower you go on the evolutionary ladder (the human one), the smaller the % of individuals who don't have this muscle becomes. Probably because apes and stuff need it more for climbing. This means that there is nothing wrong with me, I'm just one step further in the evolution :p

i'd like to see a backwards cardiovascular system.

The doctors couldn't believe it because they'd never seen it before. The ultrasound technician got one doctor in, and then he said "I'll be right back" and he brought in 5 more. Naturally they didn't say anything and I thought they'd found a lump the size of Rhode Island in my body.

I just asked "Am I going to live?" They said "Yes, but this is amazing. I hope you don't mind if we take another look."

They spent a long time "looking" at me on the monitor ...

Apparently my heart is flipped and the blood vessels are all running into the heart backwards. So my aorta isn't where it should be, my pulmonary vein and artery are backwards, etc. Everything is backwards.

Weird, eh?

when you say it like that it actually makes me think you are serious! :p You aren't.. are you?..

I'm totally serious. I'm a visceral anomaly. The doctors were like kids in a candy store looking at what was going on in there. Apparently, all of my kidneys looked as though they were functioning properly. Most people with an extra kidney have one that doesn't function or isn't hooked up properly. All of mine are.

That being said, I'm donating my body to the medical science faculty at the university here so they can dissect me and take lots of pictures :)

I figure thats the least I can do to benefit medical science. I'm sure it's not very common, but there has to be some other people in the world wired up like I am.

wow, how awesome is that! :D
Do you have any idea what it's called? so that I can google it and find some info? :p
